Can anyone who's lowered their blood pressure while following the Zone diet tell me what foods are best to concentrate on eating -- or to avoid? I just read that foods high in vitamin K -- like cabbage, spinach, and broccoli -- help blood clot, which might cause a stroke in people with high BP. You can eat a bit every day but it's best not to eat lots -- like I was doing until I read this. I love these three foods! After a month in the Zone, my BP has gone down but is hovering around 142/90. How long do you think it will take to see significant results? |

It is always best to follow your doctor's advice, but I don't think that you have to worry about your blood clotting up. However, if you are on Warfarin, then these foods will interfere with the anticoagulation that Warfarin is trying to accomplish. Just keep concentrating on eating solidly in the Zone, and work on staying away from the unfavorables. Lean protein, monounsaturated fats. |

Thanks, Cranberry Cat! So far I am quite pleased with my results, so I guess the main thing to remember is: all things in moderation. And keep on Zoning! :) |
