I noticed that a lot of the Zone Classic recipes on the website make use of Tofu. I am allergic to soy so is there any other good source of recipes other than buying a book?

Ok, I didn't look far enough down the page. I do see a lot more than I thought.

Also, how do you turn a 4 block recipe into a 3 block recipe? Thanks.

When appropriate, you can always sub another protein in for the tofu. Guess it depends on the recipe.

I have a collection of recipes on the cooking tips forum, so if you scan through there, you might find it. I think I recently posted a recipe, so it shouldn't be buried too far down. I rarely use tofu, and can't think of any recipe of mine that has tofu in it.

The books are good recipe sources, too. I have gotten lots of ideas for meals from the book recipes. One of my favorite recipe books is ZONE MEALS IN SECONDS.

To turn 4 blocks into 3 is either cook the whole lot and it 3/4 of it. Leave the rest for the next day snack or part of lunch.

When I cook the meatballs or bolognese I use 11 blocks of ground meat (turkey or very lean beef). My husband and I have it for dinner (3+4 blocks) and I have then around 4 blocks left for the next day. It is then a very delicious part of our lunch

Another idea is to prepare the recipe but double or triple it. ''

If I double it, the end result is 8 blocks. I just adjust the protein portion so that it is 9 blocks instead of 8, leaving the carb as is, then divide it up into 3 portions. You are really only short of a fraction of a carb block, which doesn't amount to much in the long run.

If I triple it, the end result is 12 blocks, which is easier to divide into 4 equal servings.

Probably sounds more complicated than it really is! But, I like making extra servings, so that I have some ready-made meals for on-the-go lunches.

Hey everyone, I'm back on the zone after an almost one year hiatus. lol! I lost almost 20lbs when I was on it last year. Been back on for 18 days and have lost 5 pounds, but I've had a couple of obstacles, and I'm sure that's why 'I've only lost 5. However, my clothing are getting really loose, and that's a REALLY good thing! I have a group on fb of my close friends and family, and we encourage one another, and I've recommended the zone. One of my friends is many miles away, and I encourage and help her with her meal choices. She's getting the hang of it, and I told her it may take time to get it, and once she does...it'll be a breeze! Good luck to all!

You are most certainly doing very well! To me, the changes that you see and feel in your own body are much more important than a number on a scale.

Your FB support group sounds awesome, too! We have something similar going on with a bunch of us at work, but we are focusing on exercise rather than diet. More specifically, cycling. So, I use endomondo to log my cycling workouts. Also, I have been using myfitnesspal to log exercise and occasionally diet, too. Again, another network of friends there to help each other along!
