I am thinking of starting The Zone diet because it seems like a very healthy way to eat while still losing weight. Can you buy Zone bread products in the grocery stores without ordering it? if not, are there any alternatives you can use? I am on a limited budget, so I can not afford to order from the website.

Hi Sandra,
The most "favorable" bread I've found outside of buying Zone breads is Ezekiel bread. One slice equals 1 carb block. I'm no expert like many on here are though, so I'm sure you'll get some much better responses than mine.

If I am going to use a bread product (and it really isn't all that often), I use sprouted grain (like the Ezekiel Bread mentioned before). Whole Foods Market sells a brand that is even less than a 1 block serving (has tons of fiber).

Zone Foods supply all the protein you need in your diet. The dramatic reduction in hunger is a consequence of the presence of Zone Protein that is only possible with our patented baking technology. Now you can eat the foods you like to eat knowing they are rich in essential amino acids balanced with the correct amount of carbohydrate to control hunger. If you aren’t hungry, then cutting back on calories is easy.

Well, i am in Brazil...and we don't have the Zone products here... so how would be the easiest way to chose a bread that would be in tune with the program? Cause 1 block is just half of a slice of bread, ans that's is not enough to satisfy and keep me from being hungry earlier.
Thanks

You would have to check with Zone Labs regarding international orders. You may be able to get the product, one way or another.
I do fine and basically stay in the Zone without using bread products. Bread is not a zone-favorable carbohydrate. So, the best way to stay in the Zone is by eating zone favorable vegetables and fruits for your carbs.

The only bread products I use (and sparringly, at most one 1C block a day) is a slice of crisp bread (e.g. Ryvita or check the Jewish maza(?)) or 1/2 of a small tortilla wrap. I may have it with lunch or as an afternoon snak: 1 crisp bread + some low-fat cream cheese covered with smoked salmon and sprinkled with dill. Otherwise, stay away from breads. After few days it becomes much easier and you do not miss it that much.
