Ok I'm new to the Zone and I need someone to look over my taco meal.
1 8" flour tortilla (2C)
1 c frozen fajita peppers and onions cooked in cooking spray (1C)
2 oz. 96/4 lean beef cooked in small amount of olive oil(2P + 1F)
1 oz. 2% sheredded cheese (1P + 1F)
1 TBSP Guacamole (1F)
1 small spoon of salsa
Is this in the Zone? I know it would better with corn tortilla and chicken so I'll try that next time.

Hi Jennifer,
It's balanced, but it could use better carbohydrate choices to bring it into the Zone. 8" corn tortilla or flour tortilla doesn't really make much difference. Either one contains too much unfavorable carb for a Zone meal. The rule is to keep the unfavorable carbohydrate to a maximum of 25 % of all the carbohydrate in the meal. If you really like this, have it once in a great while and consider it more of an indulgence. An excellent Zone alternative would be to layer the meat, veggies, cheese and toppings on a plate and crush a couple baked corn chips on top of the tortilla flavor. Add some berries for dessert for the rest of the carbohydrate.

Thanks for the reply Sue! I took your advice (always good I might add) and had the meal on a bed of shreeded lettuce. Thanks again!

You're welcome Jennifer, and thank you! On a bed of lettuce...great idea. My recipe thread here contains a similar recipe for a taco burger salad you might like. Here's a clickable link to the thread:
