Hi, I'm new to the Zone but have my husband and daughter on it as well. Doing good so far but I have a question about teenagers. My daughter is 16 and petite as well as thin already but based on the calculations I did she should be having more protein blocks than I need. That seems kind of odd to me especially since sometimes I can't even eat what I am supposed to (although I do). Is there a different calculation for teens? Thanks for any advice.

That's what we are doing but it seems she is eating a great deal more than she ever was. Will she still lose weight/body fat? She is thin already but she wants to reduce her body fat. We will doing this for a lifetime and I don't want her to get discouraged with the right way to eat healthy. I am hoping to lose 50+ pounds and I plan on this being a lifestyle of eating for us but I want the whole family to benefit.

It would not be judicious for her to go much below 18% unless she is an athlete and is a little below that already. Technically, when an individual with an ideal body fat % has insulin levels in the Zone and eats Zone balanced to fulfill their protein requirement, they still burn fat and continue to lose stored body fat. When one gets to their lowest ideal body fat % (about 18% for a woman, a little less for afemale athlete) one adds extra monounsaturated fat blocks to their meals and snacks to maintain their ideal fat% and prevent further loss of body fat. If they then start to gain a little fat from the added fat blocks, they would cut back on fat little to maintain, then add again if necessary, until a happy medium is reached to maintain.[/color:8642f81451]
