I have been using protein powder to meet my protein needs. However, I have been experiencing sometimes extreme bloat and nausea. When I have soy protein, I feel sometimes weak and depleted. (makes it difficult to workout). I really love using the protein powder to supplement, but am concerned about these side-effetcs (if it is in fact, the protein powder is doing it). Has anyone else experienced these effects from protein powders and especially soy? Thanks for any feedback.
I'd say find one that doesn't cause you gastric distress, fi you really want to eat a protein powder.
As for feeling weak make sure you're adding enough fat to your Zone balanced measl made with protein powder. Since protein powder usually doesn't contain fat, and Zone protein sources are assumed to be low fat not fat free, you'll need to add extra monounsaturated fat to you meals made with protein powder. The same goes for other fat free proteins like egg white, some soy "meats", fat free dairy products, etc.
