    Hi,

I am new to the Zone way of eating. I have always had a portion of starch based carbs at every meal ie. bread, rice etc. I looked at the 7 day planner and there was none of this on it. Does the zone only look at carbs in vegies and fruits or is there other carbs? I am currently intervel training again, have done so for approx 7 years and would like to drop some kilos and get healthier and have heard the Zone diet is good for this.
    Can you help.

    Hi Kym:
Yea, starch carbs. = bad. The less you eat of these the better. You can get better of what you want from veggies and fruit. If you've just begun the Zone you'll spend about a week or two adapting, and after that you'll be in the zone completely (as long as you've remained strict) which is when you'll start feeling better and with more energy.

    Good luck!

Just make sure not all your carbs are fruit if trying to lose weight. I would personally only do max 1-2 low glycemic fruits a day, and the best would be post workout and the morning. Also, wathc the interval training if your looking to retain muscle while doing it. In the last month or so I have changed to low-moderate cardio sessions, fasted, 6 days a week and my strength and LBM are maintaining much better than before.

Kym try to get your carbs from veggie's and some fruit. The bread, pasta's and rice are all starches you want to stay away from. The first couple of weeks might be rough until your body adapts
