I finally broke down and started the Zone about 1 and a 1/2 weeks ago. I've been taking Dr. Sears' fish oil and the seahealth stuff as well. I feel great throughout the day, cravings decreased, no more rides on the sugar rollercoaster, mentally alert, etc.

However, I can't say the same for my workouts. My performance hasn't increased and it seems slightly harder. I'm doing the same amount of exercise as I had been doing (run 5.5 miles 4x/week, weights 2-3x). My dad, who is an on/off Zoner for the past 10 years, says it could be due to the initial AA release and that in a couple of weeks, it will start to pick up again.

Any suggestions? Or am I just being greedy-expecting to feel as great during my workouts as I do throughout the day?

I'm female, eating 11 blocks, about 22% body fat.

    Thanks!

    Welcome Erin!

I agree with your Dad that it could be the initial AA release. Note that you should be taking 8 caps daily of Zone fish oil (2 teasoppns of liquid) as you begin the diet. Also note that it takes 30 days on any given fish oil dose to receive the full benefit of that dose. Give it some time.

My frist three weeks on the zone I was doing a very tough exercise regiment. My performance during these exercises dropped substantially, but as soon as my body got used to the zone and the lack of carbo-energy, my performance was greatly and noticebly enhanced. I dont know much of the science behind it, and don't know if this is the kind of information you are looking for, but this was my experience.

Michael, the initial drop in performance most likely happened due to the initial release of AA flooding your system as you began burning stored fat. It's very common.
