I do not like cooking and pretty new to the Zone Diet - What are some tasty, easy & quick dinner ideas? Not a fan of fish or tuna. |

My lunch today: chopped cucumber, red pepper, tomato, red onion, black beans, cut up chunks of cooked chicken; place in bowl, drizzle with mixture of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, seasoned to your preference. The only cooking in this salad is the chicken, which can be done ahead of time. If you don't want to cook, then buy the precooked chicken at the store. I didn't provide measurements here, you can mix/match however you want. If you want more specifics on the amounts that I typically use, just let me know.

Jennifer, in my FB profile photo I have short dark hair and glasses, I'm wearing a white tank top and holding two little boys on my lap. The food photo albums are able to be viewed by the public.

Jennifer, an even easier way to fine me is to search FB for Sue Knorr (I just tries this) and then click in the blue shaded area at the bottom of the small search result window to expand it. In the expanded window you'll see me listed as "Consultant at Zone Labs, Inc." |

All wheat and similar grains have gluten. In 1950's or 60's wheat was biologically changed through hybrid breeding (Mexican research). . To allow more prolific growth to feed 3rd worlds countries. Since that time, with altered wheat - Gluten intolerance and the even more devastating Celiac disease - has increased exponentially. As a result, many, many people are gluten intolerant and the once extremely rare Celiac disease has increased. So, now, food companies are making gluten free foods. (More chemical processing of food so far removed from their original God made design.

Betty, look closely on at the nutrition info on the label. Any tortillas would be unfavorable carbohydrate for the Zone. Many times, gluten free versions are higher in carbohydrate than the version made with wheat. |

@ JOHN, very interesting! thank you for the info! @ SUE, Thank you! what are good numbers for carbs, etc. this is all so new to me! I have been strictly a calorie counter and this transition is quite a conundrum! with carbs, protiens, fat, and such all playing a part in a meal it tends to get overwhelming. You are all great at answering questions and helping!! |

Hi Betty, A woman's zone meal would contain about 21 g of protein, 27 g of carbohydrate and 9 g of fat. The rule is not more than 25% of your carbohydrate in any meal should come from unfavorable carbohydrate. An easy way to accomplish this without counting grams is to use Zone At-a-Glance. All you need to do is take lean protein the size and thickness of your palm, fill the rest of your plate with lots of non-starchy vegetables and some fruit, and then add a dash of monounsaturated fat, foods like almonds, avocados or olive oil, |

betty- if you get the book entering the zone, (either purchase or library), toward the back there is an expansive list of favorable/non favorable foods in all groups- i use this book daily as a guide-- the rest of the book is also helpful. |

if you like spicy, this is what i enjoy 3 oz chicken breast with some red hot sauce 2 tbsp of low fat blue cheese dressing celery sticks (enough for 2 blocks of carbs) and an apple for dessert (or unsweetened applesauce) |
