So i'm fairly new to the Zone Diet and need a little bit of help on calculating food blocks from the nutrition facts of the food label. I'm hoping some of you Zone veterans can help me out, give me a little clarification. Ok here's the problem: When I calculate the macronutrients in my meal into blocks, they don't come out even and i'm confused in whether or not it's an appropriatly zoned meal .

For example, A meal consisting of: One cup of my lowfat plain yogurt and six olives comes out to C= 2.111 P= 1.571 F= 1.666
Can this be considered a good 2 Block meal? or are those numbers too spread out?

    What about a meal that comes out to: C= 3.8 P= 4.214 F= 4 ? is that a more acceptable 4 block meal?

    Ok one more, My 2% Milk. Can one cup be considered a 1 block meal? C= 13g =1.444 P= 10g =1.428 F= 5g = 1.666

Thats it for the calculation question. My last question for this post is this: Do I have to stick to the same block schedule everyday or can I switch it up from day to day?

    Example: M-W-F 55251 T-T-F 64251 ?

Thats it for now, thanks everyone.

You can switch it up as long as you don't eat more than 5 blocke at one time (I'd go to 6 blocks in your case due to you higher daily requirement) and you don't go more then about 5 waking hours without eating. The yogurt example, add 1/2 block protein to call it a 2 block meal. The second one, yes, call it 4 blocks. The third one consider it to be 1.5 blocks or drink slightly less and call it 1 block.

My pleasure, Danny. MTZ is loaded with info. Next time you're at the library check out "Toxic Fat" by Barry Sears. It's his most recent Zone book. It gives the whole picture and ties together everything from the early days of the Zone to now.
