I was wondering if there is a soup in a can I can buy from the store? Also, are there frozen dinners that are in the zone diet?

I frequently use canned soup as a quick take away lunch. I still to ones like bean, lentil, vegetable, and other Zone-friendly carbs. So, avoid ones like chicken noodle soup, creamed soups, harvest vegetable, squash, or other pasta soups.

I then add some cooked chicken or other protein, a piece of fruit, whatever fat I may be needing, and I'm good to go for lunch!

Read the nutritional labels for your fat and carb contents (there's usually no meat protein in them, so you can skip the protein part of the label).

    Hi Sherry,

I remember reading in one of the newsletters that Progresso light vegetable soup is zone approved. I never bought it to check it out but you could try that. Also, there was a homemade soup in the forum that was very popular that if I find I will write for you.

Sherry, there was a zone tip floating around a few years ago that recommended Progresso's beef barley soup as a zone-favorable meal.  Now, at this time, I am unable to recall exactly which variety that was (I think there is more than one), but if you read labels, you can probably figure it out.

You can also balance a few frozen dinners, but again, important to read labels, and you may need to add in some protein or fat to balance them thoroughly.

Cedarlane Foods has a line of Zone frozen dinners, but I have not seen them in stores for some time.  However, you can probably find them online at www.cedarlane.com
