Hello peeps, Can anybody recommend a good protein bar? I have strayed from he zone but must get back and get my BP down. I have really bad side affects to the 20 plus meds I have tried. I know the zone is the answer, but I remember that the last time I changed to the zone lifestyle, I got really burned out on protein choices. I love so many carb choices that it's not a problem. I would love to be able to grab some carbs and a protein bar for a quick meal on the go. I have found some protein bars that seem good, but they are all made with soy. Soy really upsets my tummy, so it would have to be made from whey protein. I do make quick meals and snacks from cottage cheese, cheese sticks, cold cuts, etc., but a whey protein bar would be great. Even if the bar is made some small amount of carbs, that would be ok. Can anybody recommend anything? Anything out there? Even if it's only available online only, that would be ok. Thanks... Matt |

Hi, Matt! If you click on the shop tab at the top of the page Dr. Sears sells both nutrition bars and protein shakes which would work if you're looking for that alternative. Are you more interested in convenience or in more choices? There are many different ways you can put together quick meals on the go using the best choice in protein and then using the bars and shakes to "shake" things up. LOL |

ZoneFast 1-2-3 foods are also an excellent choice. They contain high quality protein, they are fully Zone balanced in regard to P, C and F, and, a huge plus, they do not contain any AA. ____________________________________________ sue Consultant of Zone Labs Certified Zone Affiliate Lost 100 lbs 15 yrs ago, off BP meds, thanks to the Zone diet and Zone fish oil. However, he is also looking for more of a mostly protein choice (convenience) it appears, according to his post, using favorable (real) food for the carbs. |

You nailed it John! I'm very active, and would love to grab a 2 block protien bar, an apple and a small handful of peanuts when I go golfing. I walk when I play, and that's about 4 miles, so I get a little hungry out there. |

Just got an email from a friend suggesting that I check out bodybuilding.com. They have a Search feature that allows you to enter in the grams of c, p, f, sugar, along with the calories and returns results for the bars that best match what your looking for. I tried entering in what I was looking for, and I guess it just doesn't exist. Maybe I will have to try and make my own! (very time consuming though!) |

Most bars, even protein, will have some carbs. . Thought: Protein powder of choice in a ziplock bag and then mixed with water/in your water bottle when needed? . Anther though: Unsalted Soy beans (Edamame) - could be roasted, eaten like nuts. I've seen packages f these, but, they do have some fat, i think, not sure how much - maybe low. Different from them eating Soy protein powder or different from Soy protein in bars. . Lo-Fat string cheese. Taste is non-existent, but provides protein, and they do not have to be eaten cold. Watch fat, and Protein is often a little short at 5 grams, might find one with 6 grams. Two of them combined with a medium (vice large apple) and you have a 2 block snack with appropriate amount of nuts added for total Fat incl what's in the lo-fat string cheese. |

Matt, I was just talking with a fellow employee (a home care nurse) who is carrying around protein powder supplements for her patients to try. Apparently, this particular powder dissolves completely right into water and is tasteless/odorless. It comes in individual-sized packets, each packet had about 6-7g protein. I do not recall the brand name, though. I am searching online to see if I can find it. |

I have been buying the Zone Perfect Bars from Abbott. They are perfect to the zone...just might not be the most favorable carbs...I work 12 hour shifts..so I often need to grab something quick...I don't get breaks or lunch...Janice |
