Hi! This is my 2nd day on this diet and I am feeling very ill. This might be just a coincidence - maybe I caught a flu at the wrong time or something. But, I feel really warm (like I'm getting a fever) and nauseated. I also have a headache.

I really don't see any reason why this would be connected to the zone diet. But, just by chance, did anyone else experience this? I also thought maybe this was some kind of sugar withdrawal, but I'm still drinking a cup of coffee in the morning...

Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated. Like I said, maybe I caught a flu at the same time I started the zone diet - lol.

If you typically eat a lot of processed foods, sugar, fat and salt... you may be experiencing some detoxing effects now that you are eating a much cleaner diet! The feeling should go away in a few days. Some also experience very severe headaches (I did!) for about a week. I'm told an increase in fish oils can help, though it didn't reduce my headaches.

    Welcome!

I've had a number of clients experience this, hang in there, it will gradually get better, and as xee said try increasing the Omega Rx, it helps most people

Thanks for the advice! I thought it might be a detoxing thing. I actually feel a lot better this afternoon. I'll see how things go tomorrow. There's no way I'm giving up on this diet. I'm committed! lol.

    Thanks again for your replies!

    Hey Celeste,

I had very similar symptoms myself, just a few weeks ago, as a matter of fact. Lasted for a few days, but when it was over I felt SOOOO good, especially by comparison to the detox symptoms.

So worth it once you get through the few days!

Not sure where you are exactly, but here in my spot of north central Texas, there is a mild stomach bug going around. You may want to check around with family, friends, co-workers, etc to see if anyone else has experience tummy troubles.

This is my second time going into the Zone (I was there about 6 years ago and I have no idea why I ever fell off this wagon!) and I did not experience the "healing crisis" in either case. I have experience the sickening "healing" from other detox programs. I think the Zone, when followed correctly, is a very gentle program. I'm a huge fan of gentle things!

Thanks for the encouragement! I actually feel wonderful today. I ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill, which I haven't done in several years.

I also did one of those Master Cleanse diets (several years ago) and began vomiting so bad that I had to stop the 2nd day. So...apparently, I don't like diet changes - lol! The Zone Diet is a lot better.

    Thanks for the advice!

    Hey Celeste,

You mentioning the treadmill reminded me that when my detox period was first over, I literally wanted to run uphill I had so much energy and felt so good. It was like my cells just wanted to burn some energy.

I was sitting at a bus stop waiting to take a bus to a grocery store about a mile away up hill. I so wanted to simply walk/run up it, instead of waiting for the bus. And I would have done except for a torn tendon in my foot that I was still nursing.

I've had some issues with stress, insomnia, carb balancing, other stuff, since then, so haven't quite had that "peak" feeling again, but I still have a remarkable amount of energy...it's awesome.
