Question on dieting and exercise in general, from the long term Zoners around here. I caught a cold this week and while I haven't been down with the flu, I am slightly drained with a little nasal congestion and a slight soar throat yesterday. Any tips on zone dieting while with a cold? It seems that yesterday I was getting hungrier alot earlier, with my dinner basically leaving me hungry 3 hours later and lunch the same. I ate as I normally do, yet I was hungry. Could it be the extra demands of my immune system in response to the cold?

Starve a cold, feed a fever?
    OR
Feed a cold, starve a fever?
    .
Don't know, have not really had a cold in a few years . . .

Yeah, sometimes when I get sick, things get out of whack like that. But, I will have to admit that I have also NOT had a cold for several years.

I do recall a bout with bronchitis a few years back, but I just didn't have an appetite at all, and I didn't have energy to fix good zone meals; so when I did get better, I did have a little adjustment time to get back solidly in the Zone.

    .
In all seriousness, there is often truth to old sayings.
The Feed a Cold, Starve a Fever probably came from the fact that during a cold your body is requiring more fuel, and during a fever, a fever is actually your body fighting the infection, and in doing so your temp increases. So, more than likely, the ol' saying probably came from the needs of our body telling us so.
    .
And isn't that what the Zone is also about? Listening to our body and paying attention. So, I would say, with my lack of scientific background to support it, and willing to be corrected, if your body is telling you to fuel up, and you are zoned, then it probably needs to be.
