I am brand new about learning about the Zone diet. I am a type I insulin-dependent diabetic. But I am overweight - 186 lbs. The website says I should use the 11 blocks P-F-C.
I have downloaded both the Zone Blocks food list and the 1-2-3 food list, but I have noticed that the measurements for block list shows different amounts than the 123 list. Why, and which should I use?

I am going to have to determine after I decide what to eat the amount of carbs that I would take my insulin for, as I count carbs to determine my meal insulin to take (I am on the insulin pump - OMNIPOD).

Which list should I use, and why?
I am printing, cutting and taping into a little book I keep in my purse to refer to.
    Thanks,
    Spicysmom (Spicy is my ferret).

    Hi Sheryl,

    Nice to meet you!

The amounts on the Zone 1-2 3 Grocery Additions list are the amounts you'd add to Zone foods and pastas (the Zone baked goods and pastas sold on this site in the SHOP tab). The amounts on the Zone Food Block lists are the ones you'd use to put together classic Zone meals without using Zone baked foods and Zone pastas. The amounts on the 1-2-3 list are smaller because Zone foods already contain Zone balanced proportions of protien carbohydrate and fat.

Thanks. I thought it might have been in the 10% fat, 20% protein and 30% carb. Glad you explained that.

    Hi SHERYL,

Zone meals composed with either of those two methods (blocks or 1-2-3 Zone foods and grocery additions) will have the 1-2-3 balance of F/P/C.
