Hey all, I am trying to explore some different ways to keep my chicken a little more lively so I am trying some Mediterranean style yogurt based marinades. I know how yogurt's blocks work, but because it is just a marinade it seems like it shouldn't factor in completly. Does anybody have experience with yogurt marinades. Thanks in advance. |

Hi Wesley,
I haven't used yogurt based marinades, but they sound delicious. Since you'll be discarding most of the yogurt mixture after marinating the food, I don't think would be necessary to include it in the block count of the meal. It would be great if you could share some of your recipes with us. |

OK, so I've used the yogurt marinade twice now and I have a decent recipe I guess. I tweaked it after the first try to make adjustments for the sake of flavor. I also think that it works better with breast tenderloins or pounded breasts rather than giant full chicken breasts. Here is the recipe:
2 individual cups of fat free plain yogurt 2-3 pinches of salt Black pepper 1/4 tsp tumeric 1/4 tsp chili powder 1/4 tsp paprika 3/4 tsp garlic powder 1 1/4 tsp cumin juice from 1/2 lemon chopped cilantro to taste
It is based on a half-dozen yogurt marinades that I found in my searches. Its a nice change of pace. |
