    Hey all,

I am trying to explore some different ways to keep my chicken a little more lively so I am trying some Mediterranean style yogurt based marinades. I know how yogurt's blocks work, but because it is just a marinade it seems like it shouldn't factor in completly. Does anybody have experience with yogurt marinades.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Wesley,

I haven't used yogurt based marinades, but they sound delicious. Since you'll be discarding most of the yogurt mixture after marinating the food, I don't think would be necessary to include it in the block count of the meal. It would be great if you could share some of your recipes with us.

OK, so I've used the yogurt marinade twice now and I have a decent recipe I guess. I tweaked it after the first try to make adjustments for the sake of flavor. I also think that it works better with breast tenderloins or pounded breasts rather than giant full chicken breasts. Here is the recipe:

2 individual cups of fat free plain yogurt
    2-3 pinches of salt
    Black pepper
    1/4 tsp tumeric
    1/4 tsp chili powder
    1/4 tsp paprika
    3/4 tsp garlic powder
    1 1/4 tsp cumin
    juice from 1/2 lemon
    chopped cilantro to taste

It is based on a half-dozen yogurt marinades that I found in my searches. Its a nice change of pace.
