Here's a little trick I've learned that makes it a lot easier to order a Zone friendly meal in a restaurant. Ask for the gluten free menu and you'll have a wide selection to choose from (but don't indulge in the gluten free substitutes for the bread and rolls when offered). You still might need to apply the Zone rule of ordering extra veggies, but you won't have to be wading through tons of bread and pasta offerings to figure out which ones you can easily convert to Zone balanced meals.

Great tip Sue!
From your experience, do all restaurants typically have a gluten-free menu available?
I typically struggle at places like Applebee's, or Olive Garden (that's definitely a difficult one)...

Hi Jennifer,
I doubt all restaurants offer a gluten free menu, but more and more do these days. It can be to your benefit to ask them. You can also check out the "Sherlock Zone" restaurant reviews on this site for lots of great ideas.
