Shirataki noodles

    Has anyone tried these noodles? Are they allowed in the Zone?

    I have never heard of them. Have you tried soy noodles, you can buy them at Whole Foods and they are practically zero calories and barely any calories. Try them wiith tomato sauce. Really good! Let's us know.

    Your question made me curious, so I googled them and found that they're one carb block per 5 ounce serving. They're made with yam flour, so I guess they're still unfavorable, but that's a pretty good amount of pasta to add protein and favorable veggies to.

    I wonder how they taste. They sound good.

    I also looked for them online.  I didn't find the ones made with yam flour, but 5 oz of noodles is a pretty good portion.  One could easily work one blocks' worth of these noodles into their recipe, then make a really nice veggie sauce using zucchini, mushroom, onion, or whatever; add some tomatoes or incorporate into a tomato sauce.  Maybe top with some cooked chicken breast or a lowfat Italian sausage, add a dash of olive oil.  YUM!  Now I am getting hungry!

    I have used them, and basically don't even count them since the carb content is nominal. However, they are nothing like pasta. They are best used in oriental type dishes. They are a little rubbery, and have a bit of a shrimp/mushroom essence to them.
