My daugthers nutritionist sent her home with a few pages of info. regarding the zone diet. It really interested me, but I was confused because it mentioned 10g. of fat per block, and then in another area it mentioned 1.5g per block. Has the zone been revised, and am I reading mixed info. It stated 7g.protein, 9g.carbs. but not sure correct amount of fat. Would love to find the correct amount of fat to use per block. Thanks, Olga |

7 grams of Protein = 1 Zone Block (1 Zone serving) 9 grams of NET Carbs = 1 Zone Block (1 Zone serving) Net Carbs = Total carbs minus Fiber 1.5 grams of Fat = 1 Zone Block (or 1/2 of a Zone serving) BECAUSE, you need 3 grams of Fat (a full Zone serving) for each Block of Protein/Carbs. WHY: Because most Low-Fat Protein has some Fat in it. SO, Dr. Sears says you need to add an additional 1.5 grams of fat for each 7 grams of Protein. UNLESS your protein is Fat FREE! Then you add a full serving of Fat at 3 grams. . YES, it would have been much easier (and more consistent) for everyone if Dr. Sears just stated that 3 grams of Fat = 1 Zone Block (1 Zone serving) which it does, and it would have been consistent with Protein and Carbs, but he did not, so it requires this detailed explanation. |
