Hello Zoner experts! I currently drink 100 ounces of water a day-about 3/4 of a gallon and follow the zone guidelines. I usually work second shift and have no problem having a bowel movement at the same time each morning, as soon as my feet hit the floor. The stool is soft and easily exits my body Two weeks ago I was transfer to work first shift. I get up and have breakfast, exercise etc. 3 hours EARLIER. I have been experiecing serious constipation-I no longer can "go" immediately after waking up. When I do have a bowel movement, it is "pebbly" and I must strain to have a small movement. After two or three of these movements within two hours, I am finished but I still feel bloated and don't the "empty, light" feeling I used to have. How can I fix this? I take the recommended amount of fish oil, also. Should I drink more water? I can easily drink more, if needed.

Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

Bridget, it sounds like the change in your sleep habits or something else may have caused an eicosanoid imbalance, tipping the balance of "good" and "bad" eieicosanoids toward too many "bad". You're already drinking a good amount of water. It will probably be better to address your constipation by increasing you fish oil dose. Add another 2.5 grams of EPA and DHA of Omega Rx (that's 4 capsules or 1 teaspoon liquid). It's important not to use Omega Rx and not Eico Rx for this increase. Incidentally, if you happen to be taking Eico Rx now, your constipation could be the result of spillover from too much GLA.

Please let us know what you try and how it works out.
