:?: [color=red:463db4b11b][/color:463db4b11b] I never HAVE gotten one question answered and have been curious about it for a long time.. does Dr. Sears recommend getting as MUCH carbs from low-glyvemic veggies and fruit as possible? I am willing to try to maximize my zone experience and was curious about how to go about it.. I am willing to put the effort into getting all the right amounts of fruits and non-starchy veggies (i.e, not legumes/peas/lentils but rather a wide assortment of nonstarchy veggies) maybe supplemented with things like spaghetti squash, to make it easier. But is this approach recommended OVER including things like oats and barley, lentils, beans? Which, in a uptopian zone world, would be the best way?

I am not speaking for Dr Sears but first: The total carbohydrates in a meal is the most important issue because the total carbohydrate content determines how much insulin is released relative to the glucagon (insulin's opposing hormone) released from eating protein. Having said that low glycemic carbohydrates have a much slower release of glucose into the bloodstream. Will constitute a much larger volume of food than the same grams of carbohydrates in high glycemic carbohydrates. would also contain more micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) I imagine this is why Dr Sears does recommend eating as high a percentage as possible of low glycemic carbohydrates. You don't necessarily have to be so rigid to stay in the zone but in a utopian zone world you would eat only low glycemic fruit and vegetables as your source of carbohydrates. I hope this helps to answer your question. Kindest regards, Andrew Cavanagh
