I just turned 62. Without medication, I have elevated blood pressure, triglycerides, LDL and low HDL and recently my blood glucose was tested to be approaching pre-diabetes 2 numbers. My Body Fat is 22%, LBM- 195, BF- 55. I walk 2-3 times per week for a total of only 30-40 min. Otherwise, I'm in good physical and emotional health. Am I too old to affect my hormones sufficiently by using a Zone approach?

    Hi Keith!

No, you're not too old. There's no age limit to benefit from the Zone diet and lifestyle. The diet together with Zone fish oil should lower your BP and bring your lipid profile in line. I 've had great results with respect to weight loss, my lipids, and my blood pressure. Fish oil is a vasodilator; it lowers BP. I was on 2 BP meds and my BP readings were still well into the high BP range. I tried several fish oils which did nothing for my BP. Then I began taking Omega Rx from Zone Labs. My BP responded immediately and by 2 weeks later, with my dr's help and advise, I was off both BP meds! This was about 7 years ago, and I haven't needed BP med since. I now have excellent BP readings, (my dr says I've got a teenager's BP!) Oh, by the way, I'm 6 years younger than you (turing 56 in a week and a half). I've since switched to Eico Rx fish oil from Zone Labs. My mom's in her late 70's and is also having excellent results with the Zone diet and Eico Rx. My husband is 3 yrs younger than you, also in the Zone and having great results on his annual blood labs, and ran his first marathon last fall!

What is so different about Dr. Sears' Omega RX? When I have taken Omega 3 in the past, and I tried it twice, it seemed to exacerbate the pain in my arthritic hip. I thought that was very odd but when I stopped the Omega 3, the pain subsided.

    Hi becky!

In the OMEGA-3 tab (above) you can read all about what makes Omega Rx different from other fish oils.

    Here's the address: http://www.zonediet.com/OMEGA3/tabi...fault.aspx

To reduce arthritic pain you'd need to take the appropriate dosage based on your personal level of wellness.
