Hi Everyone, I am new to the Zone, just 3 days. I really like it but am having some problems which I am assured will disapear with time such as headaches, craving, things like that. I live in Puebla, Mexico and am having a bit of trouble finding any Zone products and steel cut oatmeal. Also, I am not sure what macadamian nuts are in Spanish. Does anyone know so that I can ask for them? Also, how does SF Jello fit into the Zone? I would apreciate any help with these things. Thanks
Elsie

Hello, Elsie, welcome to the Zone!

You don't need Zone products in order to succeed in the Zone. Most Zone products aren't sold in stores, anyway. You would have to buy them online. The Zone cereal and the frozen entrees are really the only things that can be found in stores, and it is a difficult task to find these things, even in the states!

I stay in the Zone using whatever is found in our local grocery store. I shop for meats on sale, go for the leanest of cuts, etc. I buy lots of plain yogurt and cottage cheese, string cheese, etc. I buy fresh fruit in season, otherwise I always keep stocked up on frozen berries. I also buy some veggie fresh and some frozen.

Steel cut oats can also be called "Irish Oats". If you can't find them in the store, you can find it online at a number of online outlets. You might also be able to find oat groats, which is also an acceptable form of oat grain.

SF jello can fit in the Zone, depending on your personal feelings regarding sugar substitute. If you want it, I don't believe you would count it as anything. The number of carbs/protein/fat are negligible.

Hope that is all helpful!

Hello Elsie, I am also new to the Zone (its my first week), and I live in Mexico too. I don't really know where you can find steel cut oatmeal but my first guess would be in the organic aisle in your local grocery store. Macadamia nuts are called "Nueces de Macadamia" just like in english, they might be a bit hard to find but I hope you can find them. Best of luck!

Cranberrycat and Sabrina thank you very much. I am doing a lot better on the zone. I have lost 2.5# since I started last week so I am happy. But more importately I feel so much better. I still get a bit of cravings but not as much. I have decided to do as you say and try to do the zone with regular food. I am feeding my family the zone plus I call it. I do add some rice and more fruit for them but I seem to be doing good. I made this week's menue out and so far so good. Thanks to all for you help

Sounds good!

I started out very similar to you, in that I did feed my family the "plus" foods as you mentioned. But, we have weaned back from the starchy foods now.

Keep up the good work!
