Hi there,

After perusing many of the recipes on this site, I see that they are good recipes, but I also notice that many of the carbs are "less than favorable" carbs (i.e. adding tortillas or other items to a recipe to fulfill the carb requirements). What are some stellar recipes you have that don't require insane amounts of pure vegetables, but are still tasty and full of the favorable carbs?

Thanks in advance.

The woman's 7 day planner in the EATING tab shows 28 different recipes , most of which are 100% favorable carbs. Only a few recipes contain unfavorables (those with pineapple, canteloupe and hamburger roll.)

Thank you, Sue. Can you tell me (maybe I overlooked it) but how many blocks per day is that 7 day planner? Thank you for all your insights.

Hi,

The woman's planner has 3 block meals, the men's planner has 4 block meals. When you add the 2 snacks in, the woman's is an 11 block day, the men's a 13 block day.

Whenever in doubt about the number of blocks in a recipe, simply compare the ingredients and amounts to the food block list.

Julie, are you looking for specific recipes? If you want some, I could post some of mine. The recipes that I keep in my file are all 75% favorable carb.

An idea is to adjust your recipes to 2 block-carb meals, and then add some beans or a serving of berries for your 3rd carb block.

Another idea is to make chili. A good zoned recipe of chili will generally give you a 1.5-2 cup portion of chili, totally zone balanced and favorable carb ingredients.

Cranberrycat, do you have a good chile recipe that you wouldn't mind sharing with me. I am new to the zone (2 days) and would like some recipes to keep on hand. Thanks for you advice.

I would be glad to share!

I lost my recipes on my hard drive, so I will have to get it from my recipe file and type it in.

IF you don't hear from me, then please post a reminder to me!
