Hi Aussie Jan here. Can anyone tell me what to do to rid walnuts of aracadonic acid? Bob (husband) says he thought he read somewhere that if they are roasted that would work. Is this right or can't it be done?

:) Hi I e-mailed the Zone labs for the answer to this question cos although lots of people read it nobody seemed to know the answer. It seems dry roasting the nuts get rid of some of the fat content but not the acid so I guess these are a no go for me. Never mind:)

Hi Jan,

Not knowing the answer, I didn't reply when you'd originaly posted about this. But I'll share the thought I had when I initially read your question. If we could eliminate AA by roasting, baking, cooking or heating foods in some way, I'd think we'd have heard about it already, especially in regard to the Zone.

If you could, please please let us know what Zone Labs has to say.

Thanks!

Hi Sue
Yes you are right nothing diminishes the acid but it does reduce the fat but I didn't really want to do that. I will stick to almonds, and macadamias although I try cashews occasionally.

Hi Jan!

Your photo at Ayers Rock! Love it! I've thought about putting a pic of my husband and I in my avatar. Maybe I will. He's a Zone success story in his own right. He lost 67 pounds about 5 years ago with thanks to the Zone and last year ran his first marathon at age 58! :)

I've probably told you already, but in case I forgot, my oldest adn next to oldest daughters each did a semester of their Junior year of College in Australia loved it (one at James Cook U in Townsville, and the other at). teh younger one returned there with her husband last October for a 2 wk. vacation.

As for nuts, pistachios and peanuts are also decent alternatives. It's ok to have a few walnuts now and then, pecans too. I love cashews, but I find I done feel "right" after eating them. Hard to explain. I really like macadamia nut butter, even better than eating just the nuts themselves.

Cheers!

Hi Jan,

Yeah, thought it was kind of late for you!

You and Bob can do it! We did. You'll look like Frank and I in another year or two.
