| Aussie Jan here. Has anybody been to the site "karenskitchen.com" it is very helpful, a site dedicated to the Zone with charts, recipes etc I fell on it accidentally when googling oat flour (I couldn't find them here in Oz). She says to process rolled oats the long cooking type to make your own flour but as I can get steel cut oats I wonder if they would work better as I have not had any success with the rolled type. What do you think? : ) |

I don't know if using steel cut oats would work. I am thinking that the flour may still be too coarse. But, if you try it, please let us know how it works out! Either way, oat flour is not going to be a favorable carb in the Zone. Really, I can't think of ANY flour that is zone-friendly! |

| What about soy flour? I recently used it in a dish and thought it worked well. |

I am with the understanding that soy flour is also considered unfavorable, because it is a flour. I tried the pancake recipe from "Mastering the Zone" which utilizes soy flour. The pancakes were pretty good (well, about as good as soy flour pancakes can be) but I had a definite negative glycemic reaction from it. |

I used it in a dessert recipe. It was less than 1/3 of the net carbs in the dish so probably not a big deal. See the 4th July food for what I used it on.
I would only eat this as a 1 or 2 block snack not for a meal. I am far from carb sensitive so I didn't even notice a problem. |
