No, it's not the same. 1/3 cooked steel cut oats equals 1 C block. One cup dry steel cut oats cooked with 4 cups water will yield about 12 carb blocks.

just to clarify because I made the day 5 breakfast this morning...

the recipe asks for 2/3 cups of slow-cooking steel cut oats...

1. do they mean for me to measure out and cook 2/3 of uncooked oats?

or

2. do they mean for me to consume 2/3 cup of COOKED oatmeal?

I'm guessing it's the cook with 2/3 c of uncooked oats and consume the cooked product.

thank you very much for your help.

Hi Erika,

The day 5 breakfast in the Women's Planner would be balanced if you measured out 2/3 cup of cooked steel cut oats (secnario # 2 in your post). Also note that it will not be a Zone favorabel meal if you were to use rolled oats (the flattened oats you're probably more used to seeing).

2/3 cup of dry steel cut oats would contain around 8 blocks, enough to make 4 of the breakfasts shown for day 5.
