I know this site has a nice section to create snacks, but I was curious on some simple snack ideas that other people enjoy.

I use it all the time. This is my favorite. One scoop of protein, 2/3 of a cup of natural applesauce,1 cup of strawberries, 1-1/2 teaspoons of natural peanut butter, and a dash of cinnamon(optional) a block 3 zone meal. You could also try one scoop of protein. Your choice of 3 blocks of carbs(fruits) and 3 blocks fat. Blend it up in water.

1/2 apple, 1-low fat string cheese and a couple cashews is fast and easy (watch the fat in the string cheese)
1 block choc protein powder with a small spoon of peanut butter as a shake w/1 C fresh strawberries
Sometimes I save a block from dinner to have as a 1 block snack

Often I have 1/2 Zone bar. My Sears bar shipment arrived today. They are much better at keeping hunger at bay than many of the ones found in retail stores.

1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup thawed-from-frozen blueberries, slivered almonds. LOVE it, and my kids enjoy eating it, too!

Hi Anthony!
I dont pop in very often but just did tonight and caught your question. Here's a few of mine:

I like CranberryCats cot ch , blue berries and almonds....yum!!! Also, a little tub of applesauce on top my cottage cheese and almonds instead of the blueberries. I use Zone Perfect and Balance bars for snacks. The Zone Perfect ones are close to Dr. Sears in balance and they can be found in snack size.....lots of flavors.
I like the string cheese with just a few whole wheat crackers and either some almonds or cashews but I know the crackers arent Zone approved.

If you like plain yogurt, you can add fruit and eat a few nuts with that too. its good with berries.

I dont know what part of the country you live in or what your tastes are, and, this isnt really a snack , but, have you tried salsa, black beans and avocado on your eggs yet?

Have a blessed evening!

Alene that last tip sounds really good! A snack I like is cottage cheese with garlic powder heaped on 2 ryvita (whole grain rye) crackers (probably not the best carb...) but its yummy. The amounts come out right for a 2 block snack.

Yum! That sounds tasty Janet! I like the rye crackers too, unique texture on the ones I'm thinkng of. Never tried garlic powder on cc. Thanks for the tip.

yes, it makes the eggs "different" and would also be good for a quick supper.

OK, here's one I just made up! Just ate it...it was awesome! Now how zoneful is it? See whatcha think:
1 lg. portobello mushroom, destemmed, cleaned, sprinkled w/ a bit of olive oil
1/2 c. of chopped tomatoes (I used canned, drained the juice)
chopped oregano from the garden
2 oz. pecorino romano, grated
I put it in the toaster oven....I started with just the mushroom, to heat it up, then added tomato, heated it up, then added cheese....it only kinda melted....but was super super good! A faux pizza!
How does it stack up?

Im glad this forum opened back up! I've recently been getting more strict on my zone and seeing good results. One of the reasons is I like to cook and change things up so every ones snack ideas help a lot! I tried the blue berries and cottage cheese and it was fantastic and That last one Janet posted sounds pretty tasty!

But a side question, does any one know the link to the PDF file with food quantities and their block proportions? Its a different one from the snack section but I'm kicking myself for not saving.

Oh and again, thank you all for your posts! I always encourage crossfit zoners with questions to come here because every one is so helpful!

I dont know if it tells about the PDF file or not, but, the Zone Food Block List is under EAting, then Quick Start Guide. They need to make it easier to find!

Hope this helps.
