Cranberry -

In MA, we had a record (I think) accumulation of snow for December. Since then, we've had a lot of rain but virtually no snow until yesterday. What they say about the weather in New England is true: the only thing predictable about it is it's unpredictability.

I'm off to do some zone shopping. I will attempt to make some zone muffins this weekend according to one of the recipes on this site. Still trying to find what we like and then stock up on it. I say we since my wife is getting dragged into the zone along with me. She's ok with it as long as I don't try to take away hew Sunday bagel and morning coffee. She told me I can't stop drinking my 1 cup of black coffee in the morning or she will feel too guilty having hers. LOL

I have so many more questions, but I'llp[ost soem of them this afternoon.

Sincere thanks to everyone for all the support you provide to us newbies. A support group is so helpful when you are trying to change your lifestyle.

Best,
Rich

So, have you "snow-bunnies" been getting a lot of snow all winter, or is this your first really big snowstorm?

We've had a bunch of snow here this yr. First big one (big one to me is over a foot) was in the beginning of Dec. But I'm disappointed, because like Rich said, it rained a lot, too, which wrecked the snow. I love to snowshow, and the rain either leaves too much icy crust on top or it weighs down the snow, making it no good for snowshoeing. :( CT is many times on the snow/rain line when storms come into New England. Northern CT (where I am) usually gets snow, while the shoreline areas get rain.

Richard, perhaps you can "guilt" her out of her coffee habit! LOL!

As long as the food tastes good, my family has no problem eating in the Zone with me! And, they are free to get whatever else they want. Like, the bagel--my hubby likes a bagel with his morning coffee on Sunday, too. We stop at the bagel shop and meet friends before church (a weekly ritual). He has his bagel and coffee, and I can still enjoy my decaf. Since I have already had breakfast, the others eating their bagels doesn't bother me too much.

Bring on the questions, although I may not be around later today, going to go do some XC skiing!

As for the weather, we have been having a winter like I remember as a kid. Snowy from December on through til now.

I did get a little worried in early January. We got a heat wave, and we lost all of our December snow. But, that lasted only a week or so, and then we got it all back, and then some! And to think I was worried that we wouldn't have any snow! LOL!
