Shaun's Profile

Zone Products Used in Training:

Consistent (daily) use of Zone Bars, EicoPro and OmegaRx fish oil, accompanied by occasional use of Zone Cereal, Zone Shakes and Zone Pasta.

Benefits Seen With Zone:

Decrease in recovery time, significantly increased balance and stamina before and inbetween meals (with use of bars), decrease in soreness between workouts (fish oils)... the OmegaRX and EicoPro also played a big part in my recent weight traning, as I was able to add my goal of 10-12 pounds of muscle in just 4 months (this was rapid for a slender distance swimmer such as myself!)

Best Athletic Accomplishment To Date:

Anchor leg of American Record breaking 800 free relay senior year at Stanford

Favorite Thing About Training:

Time with teammates, interaction between sets and during lifting/dryland

Least Favorite Thing About Training:

Those days when nothing seems to go right and you cannot seem to perform! (but they do provide great perspective for the good days)

Biggest Challenge Overcome:

Overcame serious spine injury at 14 to qualify for Junior and then Senior Nationals within 12 and 18 months post injury.

Competition Rituals:

Elevate legs and relax with gentle arm and leg shakes 15-20 min prior to race... prayer behind the blocks before race.

Favorite Race:

Depends on the given day and season, 200 free or 400/500 free most often.

Hobbies:

Reading, movies with friends, anything outdoors (camping, beach, scuba diving)

One Fact No One Knows About You:

I went Scuba and Sky diving in the same year (and eagerly await my next new adventure! Any suggestions?)

If You Weren’t An Athlete, You would Be:

An international traveler

Average Day Consists Of:

Weights and swim 6:15-8:00, breakfast, classes and homework 9-2 (lunch at 12) dryland and swim 2:15-5:00, dinner at 5:30, homework or relax/time with friends till bed ~10:00-10:30.

Favorite Zone Food / Flavor:

Peanut Butter Zone Bars (the taste of a candy bar with the energy and balance of the zone, what could be better?)
