Ed's Profile

Zone Products Used in Training:

EicoPro fish oils and Polyphenol Plus.

Benefits Seen With Zone:

I don’t get sick as much and recover faster. There was one period this summer where I was traveling for a few weeks and not taking my zone products. It is the only time I was sick the entire season!

Best Athletic Accomplishment To Date:

Well prior to becoming a triathlete I played football in college and was pound for pound the strongest man on the football team, but in triathlon it is probably winning my age group and coming across the line 16th overall at Ironman Arizona in 2008.

Favorite Thing About Training:

I love long rides in the mountains or running up at 8000 feet on the Switzerland trail. It is just beautiful up there and inspiring.

Least Favorite Thing About Training:

Spending time away from my family.

Biggest Challenge Overcome:

Making the tough decision to leave behind a successful career in finance for an uncertain one in triathlon.

Competition Rituals:

Big breakfast two days before and almost always have gnocchi or pasta the night before a big race.

Favorite Race:

Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

Hobbies:

Following all Philadelphia sports teams. Cooking and wine.

One Fact No One Knows About You:

I was Danny Zucco in a high school production of Grease.

If You Weren’t An Athlete, You would Be:

Back in Finance.

Average Day Consists Of:

There really is no average day but an average week is around 28 to 32 hours of training with 18k of swimming, 20 hours of biking and 6 hours of running.

Favorite Charity:

Doe Fund a non-proft organization that provides transitional housing and work for individuals who have been formerly homeless or incarcerated. www.doe.org
