The news continues to be good in Monterrey, Mexico. Manuel Uribe, who has been called the fattest man in the world, continues to lose weight.
“I knew I could be helped from the first day that God put you into my life – not just for myself but as an instrument to help millions of people,” Manuel told Dr. Sears when he visited his home in December.
Early last summer, after following the Zone and taking high-dose fish oil for two months, Manuel had lost 200 pounds. Two months later, the weight loss was registered at 332. And last month his weight loss was up to 388 pounds.
The Discovery Channel is taping Manuel’s progress and will air the program when the big day arrives – the day that Manuel is able to get out of his bed and walk again.
Dr. Sears told Manuel that new “super” fish oil he has developed will help reduce the fat deposits in the legs. Manuel then told Dr. Sears about the many doctors around the world who want to operate on him. Dr. Sears replied that as long as Manuel continues to lose weight, any type of weight-loss surgery should be ruled out. Manuel agreed with that assessment.
“Gastric surgery is one of great risk because you’re taking out normal tissue. This makes no sense whatsoever, especially if it occurs when the patient has good health,” Dr. Sears said. “The concept of internal surgery is a very exciting one.”
