Zone Chorizo

Ingredients:
3 oz 7 percent ground beef
4 egg whites
1 fat free flour tortilla
2 cups fresh strawberries or other fruit to complete a 4 block meal
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. mild chili powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. white vinegar
1/2 tsp. ground cumino
1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1-1/3 tsp. of olive oil

Instructions:
Mix above spices and oil thoroughly into the raw ground beef. Fry up in a non-stick pan and when "crumbly" add egg whites and cook until done. Heat up tortilla and there you have it. When we went to Zone, my kids didn't want to give up having Chorizo breakfasts. (It's a tradition in our family so I decided to try and make it Zone.) As far as the tortilla, we live in southern California and you can buy very good fat-free tortillas that are exactly 2 carb blocks in the local grocery store. Hope it works!

Editor's note: Breakfast sounds great! To make it even more Zone favorable, substitute a corn tortilla, which is usually one block and add 1/2 cup salsa while sauting the ground beef mixture or add another block of fruit. Another good change would be to substitute 1 cup Morning Star Farms Harvest for Recipes, texturized vegetable protein crumbles.
