Improved energy level

At age 42, after years of losing the battle of the bulge, I decided to get fit like I use to be. I was 6'4" and 250. I decided that I would do so like I use to do. So I set out exercising and cutting the fats and eating complex carbs. I lost weight - 10 pounds! I decided to up the ante on my workout regimen and began a very scaled back Crossfit program. Well, this was where I started to learn a valuable lesson.

I couldn't keep up the workouts with the low-fat diet, so I ate whatever I could get my hands on. Soon I was back to 250. I bought the idea that exercise would take care of this and kept pushing through with my Crossfit training. The fat stayed. Now, at 43 I had resigned and decided to be happy where I was. Then I went to a Crossfit certification seminar.

I was SO impressed with the men and women at the Crossfit certification that I decided I'd buy into everything they taught. The thing that seemed to be the missing link for me was the diet. So upon my return from the certification I began eating in the Zone. This was in April of 2008. I saw 2 major changes in a month. One was that I began to lose weight - 15 pounds that month. The other was that my energy level, particularly as related to the workouts I was doing, was improved phenomenally. I'm now 44, weigh 205, have abs I can see again and continue to set personal bests on my workouts. I eat 24 blocks a day and have never been in the shape I'm now in - EVER!
