I want to express my sympathy for those who were affected in any way by the bombs at the Boston Marathon. I know that there are some Zoners and families of Zoners who might have been there today. I am thinking of you all and praying that you are safe.

Chron's disease (Chronic inflammatory disease)

Hi everyone!

I have Chron's disease which is a chronic inflammatory condition of the bowel. Unfortunately there is no cure and I am on a chemotherapy drug to treat it. Unfortunately, I have not felt any difference and I feel discomfort all day everyday! My last resort is going to be a complete diet change. As it is I eat healthy but I would like to try a different approach and found the zone diet.

My question is, are there any Inflammatory Bowel Disease sufferers who have adapted to the zone diet? Does it work???

Your input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi!
I am interested in juicing. However I don't know how to add it to the Zone diet or what Dr. Sears recommend in that regard. I'd appreciate if someone could provide me some advice about it. Thanks a lot!

Hello any current Zoners in Perth. Western Australia

Hello
I am just starting wondering if there are some Australians currenly zoning? Most posts seem quite old. Be great to hear of current product availability and onshore brands etc for foods, etc and also in metric! I've got heaps of those "dumb" questioners that beginners have to ask to learn as well...

I look forward to hearing back.
Many thanks
Angela in Oz

New from WNY

I'm Sharon from the Western NY area. I don't see an "Intro" forum so I figured I'd post here.

I've discovered The Zone Diet very recently. I've suffered for years with fatigue, being overweight, sleep apnea and recently have started to have horrible pain in my feet when I get up from sitting. It would take a few minutes of walking in pain for my feet to stop hurting enough to walk normally. I've bought inserts for my shoes which helped a bit but walking had become somewhat of an embarrassing struggle.

I have a friend on FB who recently posted how much better she was feeling with her new way of eating. She mentioned her pain being gone along with other benefits. Someone asked what she was doing and she mentioned the Anti-inflammation diet.

So I looked into it and couldn't find a lot on the web and ended up at the library borrowing the book The Anti-Inflammation Zone which I have been reading over the last week.

The only thing I've done so far is to take 4 tsp of cod liver oil daily and I added another supplement that my sister-in-law told me about. I've also been cutting out the oils that you aren't supposed to use (safflower, corn, veg etc). My feet still hurt a bit but I am now able to walk normally for the most part with much less pain.

I'm so interested in the Anti-Inflammtion Diet. I can't believe that I haven't heard of it before. It seems like the best thing I've ever found.

I can't wait to learn more and put this into practice. I'm interested in getting to know others here on the forum or in real life. I live in the Buffalo NY area.

If there is a more appropriate place to post this, I"d be happy to move it. Just let me know. Thanks.

first week

Hi,

This is my first week with the Zone. I work out every day, doing HiiT, Interval training and Lifting. I decided to go with the 3 block meal and 1 block snack (total of 11 blocks) feeling a little bit tired around noon and a little bit hungry. My weight is 142, I'm 5.5 and my body fat could be 28%???? no 2 sure. My goal is to drop 10 to 15 pounds.
Oh, I love salads and in the 3 blocks categories I supposed to eat 6 cups of lettuce?? How can I enjoy a nice salad without thinking how I'm going to be able to such a HUGE salad. Thanks
Anyone in Naugatuck, CT?

 Hello fellow Zoners, I'm looking for a Zone Buddy in the Naugatuck, CT area. I started the Zone last year and was quite successful over a years time, and then hit a major speedbump last December when I bought a home with my fiancee. I was now in a town 30 miles from my gym and started eating like he ate. Now, however, I'm happy to say that I'm back on track, have joined a new gym and am looking for someone who (like me) might benefit from a friend to stay in control and positive! Thanks for your interest and good luck to everyone!

dog bite!

So, I was riding my bike yesterday, and stopped about 2 miles from home to talk to some acquaintences--the daughter is a good friend of my daughter. As I was leaving, I began to pedal my bike out the driveway, and their pitbull dog came out of nowhere and bit me in the ankle!. OUCH!

Reported it to the police, went to the ER, got some stitches, and pretty much spent my entire night throbbing in pain. I did take some pain medication, but not much relief AND I got sick on them anyway. So, I am just going to tough it out with Ibuprofen.

I have a difficult time walking, even used crutches for much of the day. I can bear weight but because of the swelling I don't have any flexibility in my ankle at all.

So, for now, my biking is on hold...
