Christina,
I also agree, your meals sound delish! I was also curious about the Wii Fit games. Was going to get one at xmas, but didn't because I had started back at Curves. So, I am still "shopping around" for a good one.

I had my strawberry smoothie for breakfast (may have oats tomorrow, will see)

Lunch: shrimp creole--gr peppers, onion, tomato and a little toss of black beans sauteed in olive oil, then tossed the shrimp in at the last minute to heat through. Seasoned with creole seasoning. This is actually a meal that I used to make often, but somehow I had forgotten all about it, and haven't had it in a long time.

Snack: frozen cherries, cc, slivered almonds (by the time snack time rolls around, the cherries should be thawed and juicy)

Not sure about dinner yet. Thinking about having some salad with grilled chix and veggies. I have some lettuce that I need to use up!

Thanks Christina, you have convinced me to get the new game instead of Jillian Michaels. I was wondering why I never saw it at the stores....I assumed it was because it was always sold out like the Wii Fits, they are very hard to get in this area...but I guess its because the game has problems, I would imagine the stores would stop carrying it after a lot of people return it for programming problems!

Valencia - I also have Zone Meals in Seconds and there are a lot of easy and yummy recipes in there. Just be careful that the recipes you choose don't have too many unfavourable carbs...there is a whole section that has sandwiches, etc so you need to use your own judgement when picking. I'll often substitute a favourable carb for an unfavourable one but keep the rest of the recipe the same and its working out ok.

I didn't leave my 'accountability' info in my earlier post.....

B - NF cottage cheese, steel cut oatmeal, 1 c strawberries, 2 Tbsp slivered almonds

L - Sue K's Taco Burger Salad made with ground turkey

S - yogurt/ranch dip with celery sticks and 3 almonds

D - pork chop (I know not best choice but I find it easiest if I have the same protein as the rest of the family and they have been eating MY chicken and turkey all week so its their turn to pick!) with undecided veggies

S - roasted red pepper hummus stuffed egg whites

I just love this thread. Its nice to be able to share daily recipes and meals. This morning I had 1/2 cup of ff yogurt with berries and 2 soy sausage patties, and a spoonful of peanut butter.

Lunch was a cauliflower, egg white, and cheese patty, with stir-fryed zuchini and yellow squash, with tomatoe-lime-cilantro salsa and avacado on top. With a raw bell pepper to round it out.

I have green beans and cheese for my 1st snack
2nd snack will be chick peas and cheese

Dinner will be Chicken Catchitori (sp?) which is chicken breast and mixed veggies with tomatoe sauce on top.

Late night snack will probably be turkey slices and strawberries.

I'm having an interesting time with my OmegaRx lately. I've been slowly trying to increase my dosage so that I'm taking the recommended 8 caps for weigh-loss according to the Anti-Inflamaation. So for a long time all I've taken has been 4 caps a day. But I knew I should be taking 8. So the last two weeks I took 6, and this week I started taking 8. This is my 3rd day of taking 8. So far I've got fairly loose stools, so I think it might be too much FO, but I want to give a week or two, and if it doesn't adjust itself, I will back off to six, or possibly switch to EicoRx instead. Or maybe I just need to eat more steel cut oats to get some more GLA. I don't eat them normally and probably should. I've only had them twice in the last few months. Fine-tuning is like a science project sometimes!

Hi all...seems like struggle time is upon me. LOL! I craved fast food so badly today. I brought my lunch as always, but had cravings of ANYTHING bad! So I went to Pita Hut and got Hummus dip and pita chips.

B - egg whites with olive oil, cheese, and deli turkey, and grapes
L - hummus dip, deli tukey (which was for my salad; i may eat it for snack), baked pita chips (probably not best to have them i'm sure)
S - I'll have grilled chicken breast, an apple (or salad), and nuts(or light vinagerette) (?)
D - Something in the taco family LOL!
S- ?

Hopefully tomorrow will be better planned!

Becky, If you are having loose stools, it may not necessarily mean that you are getting too much fish oil. You would want to back off if they become watery, but if they are still somewhat formed, you are fine!

Also, I use EicoRx. I used to have difficulty tolerating OmegaRx due to the loose stools and GI upset. But, the EicoRx seemed to fix that problem for me.

Yep, I agree, sometimes it is exactly like a science project!

Well, today is "clean out the frig" day! I do my grocery shopping on Thursday evenings. It's the end of my work week, plus hardly anybody goes grocery shopping then! So lunch was green beans, lima beans, ff turkey dogs, lf velveeta cheese, and almonds. I cut the turkey dogs and cheese up and stirred them together. It wasn't the best lunch, but it worked!

I'm thinking supper will be Poor Man Supper of: some ground beef, the rest of the green beans, some chopped tomatoes, maybe some carrots, half a slice of bread crumbled on top, and a bit of cheese. My Mother-in-law makes something similar but uses tomato soup instead of chopped tomatoes. I think I'm going to measure it all out into the proper blocks and bake it in an individual sized baking dish. Then my husband can use the leftover meat for spagetti or tacos.

Supper will be late, so.....mid-afternoon snack will be deli turkey, the last of the lima beans, and almonds

Hope everybody is having a good day!

Jennifer, in all honesty it is Not my doing. I used "The Fresh Diet" delivery service. I make my own meals on occasion and had to for a week I went away, as well as weekends I go up North to Massachusetts.
I sometimes feel weird posting my meals on here, but you know what I am part of the forum and feel that I must use the same discipline as everyone else, so why not? LOl. But, I have stated before that I rely heavily on meal delivery. Its worth the investment for Me. But, I hope to be on my own after the summer. I gave myself until Sept. I do use the Sea Health Plus, green tea supplement, Eico fish oil and Zone, pasta, Bars, Shakes and Olive oil. I have the cereal as well, because my better half loves it.

CC, the Wii fit is amazing. We got it last year and it is quite a motivator and helpful work out "buddy". It measures your progress, weight and balance as well as tracks your absences...lol

OOPS! Tracks your absences? LOL!

I do enjoy hearing what your meals are. I knew someone who was zoning on another forum on iVillage, and she was posting her daily delivered meals. They all sounded so delicious! She was only having them delivered for a month, that was all she could afford. She had excellent results, and she was definitely getting some good ideas on meals that she could prepare later on.

Yes CC,
The Wii actually starts making you feel guilty. It is actually pretty amusing. It might say, "Oh, its bee 22 days since you last worked out. I guess you have been extremely busy?" Its funny.
Yeah, it is an investment, but I got a good rate and I would spend $30.00 a day if I ate out anyway. In New York a take out lunch is easily $15.00. So, I just weigh the pros and cons. By the way, with having not as much coffee, I save $3.50-$5.00 a day. It adds up.

Good Morning Everyone,
I wonder, do many of you find yourselves turning down going out to meet a friend for a meal? I have noticed that I really find myself turning down food related meetings. Reason being, I have a game plan for the day and I don't want a monkey wrench thrown in it. Not, to say I don't go out to dinner, but I don't go more than once a week. If even that now. Previously, I would only have nights when I met friends for dinner. Eating, drinking and not paying attention to what I ate really. So, I see this is a pattern I have broken.

3/9 Start 245, 3/16- 240lbs, 3/23 -237lbs, 3/30 -234lbs, 4/6-231lbs, 4/13-229lbs, 4/20-227.5lbs, 4/27-225lbs, 5/4-223lbs, 5/11-223lbs, 5/18-221lbs, 5/25- 220lbs, 5/28-219pounds, 6/1- 217lbs, 6/6- 216, 6/15-216, 6/18 -215 (yeah 30 pounds), 6/25-- 215, 7/6- 218 (Ugh), 7/13- 213, 7/21- 211, 8/10- 210.5, 8/15- 208, 9/8--211, 9/16 - 207, yeah 11/9- 215

Here is my game plan for Thursday:
B-Mexican Style Omelet with Green Salsa, Sour Cream, Chives,1/2 Whole Wheat Toast
L-Chicken Caesar Wrap with Romaine Lettuce & Cucumber on a Sun-Dried Tomato Tortilla Wrap
D-Grilled Chicken Breast with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto with Lemon Zest Lima Bean Puree and Steamed Sugar Snaps
S1-Whole Wheat Chicken Tortellini with Fresh Basil Pesto
S2-Cinnamon Pear "ricotta" Cheese Cake

I am picking up a friend from JFK airport today (she is visiting from VT) and driving her into Manhatten and I will have lunch with her in the park vs. going to a restaurant for lunch. Since the weather is so nice, she will just buy a sandwich and we will enjoy people watching.

Good Morning Everyone!

Christina -- I agree with you about not eating out as much. With having a big family picking up take out was a big thing for us (especially me so I didn't have to cook!) but I find now that we hardly ever do it because it is so much harder for me to stay in the Zone. I'm feeling so much better eating this way that I really don't mind!

CC -- I LOVE the Wii Fit. I also have a treadmill and a Bo-Flex so that was my usual morning workout. A few years ago I used to do DVDs for toning, pilates and yoga...but I got bored of them and it seemed silly to keep purchasing new DVDs all the time. I find with Wii Fit that it gives the 'toning' workout to go along with the cardio of the treadmill and it hits different muscles and areas than the weights do. It is A LOT of fun and the whole family is doing it now! The kids have a ton of fun trying to beat my (and each others) scores. My only 'complaint' is that the Wii Fit weighs heavier than my bathroom scale by about 3-4 lbs. I know its my bathroom scale that was wrong as it isn't very hight quality BUT it is still frustrating that I'm battling the same lbs that I felt I had 'beaten' already! Oh well, I keep telling myself that when I get lower than my last 'scale' weight then I'll feel like I've truly won a battle!

Didn't sleep well last night so not going to work out this morning, but my meal plan for the day is....

B - NF cottage cheese, oatmeal, strawberries, slivered almonds

L - Veggie Frittata (2 blocks mixed veggies, salsa, 6 eggs whites, olive oil and black olives)

S - deli turkey with hummus

D - Sue K's Stuffed Eggplant recipe made with ground turkey

S - yogurt/ranch dip with celery and cucumbers

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning Everyone!

Whew......today is the end of my work week, and it has been a long one! The food temptations have mostly subsided, so I'm hoping they stay at bay over the long weekend!

My supper last night was so hearty. It came out better than expected. I mixed everything together, microwaved it for a minute, sprinkled the bread crumbs on top, and baked it for 10 minutes to get the topping crunchy. Before I ate it, I stirred the the breadcrumbs in. They, along with the cheese, gave it a nice creamy texture. I made an extra bowl to have for lunch today.

Christina, I would absolutely have my meals delivered if it was possible! I live in a very small town down south, though. We barely even have any restaurants....so I have to cook everything.

Today's plan:

B: egg whites, black beans, salsa, sour cream 2 blocks
S1: plain popcorn, soft cheese, almonds 1 block
L: leftover supper + something to add a blk(?) 3 blocks
S2: lima beans, deli turkey, almonds 2 blocks
S: taco salad 3 blocks

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.

Good morning everybody...

I've got a very busy day...Driving 7 hours to Eugene Oregon for State Tennis for my DD. The whole family is going ...hubby, my & 13 yr old brother...and then our oldest ..20 yr old college student is going to meet us there too. He goes to school over there...so it will be exciting.

I'm doing *alright*. I had a bite of cookie last night..very small actually. I made 4 dozen for the tennis team's trip. So..not too bad..retaining water today ..about 1 lb..and the scale hasn't moved at all this week...but TOM is around the corner (Time of Month)...so I should expect that.

Not sure about meals for the next few days. I'm going to take my cottage cheese and apples...and see how it goes. Hopefully nothing damaging. The hotel does not have a workout facility :-(

Today...I am eating..

B: egg whites, black beans salsa..

L: chicken veggies..

D:???? whatever is legal on the road.

I'll try and check in if we have time.... I still have to pack, water outside, plant tons of plants, wash car, do errands before we go.....I better get off the computer ;-)

BTW..Christina...I think its great that you are doing the meal thing. I wish I could do it...they sound so good!! It is definitely working for you..congrats!

Hope you all have a great day.

Interesting about eating out, isn't it? I think we, as a society, have gotten used to eating out more and more. There are always new restaurants popping up, new things to try. And, we are so busy, we don't have time to make our own meals!

But, back when I was a kid, we only went out to eat on special occasions.

I am trying to get back to that. Not only because of the food, but because of our finances. I did an interesting thing once, I plugged in all of our $$ spent on eating out, vs. food that we bought at the store. We spent almost more eating out than we did at the grocery store. So, after I did that little "study", I have been taking a more active role in putting the foot down and saying "lets eat at home tonight".

I reserve eating out for special occasions. So, I won't give up my time spent with my friends, just because we happen to be eating at a restaurant. But, I tend to look at eating out as more of a special occurrence, rather than an everyday event.

Christina and Jana, thanks for the info on Wii Fit. Will consider this purchase in the fall, when it starts getting dark and cold out. That is when I lose my motivation to take those evening walks. I am still doing Curves, and some walking, and some HIIT, so for now, I think I am good.

Good morning CC, what is HIIT? I keep seeing it, but don't know what it is.

I had a mini-binge last night. We are having our house painted, so things are really stressful around my house right now. Not that that is an excuse, but I had a few tastes of unfavorables with dinner. Bites of sweet cereal, a spoonful of ice cream, a few chocolate chips, a sliver of blueberry pie. Needless to say, my grandpa is quite the enabler. He just keeps buying junk, eventhough he sees how much time and effort I put into cooking my zoned meals. He's just too old and lazy to put forth that much effort. Convenience is key for him, and of course lots of sweets and rich fatty foods as well. Pastries from the bakery, pies, cookies, sweet cereal, ice cream, chips, etc, etc...

But... I started off the day well with an egg white omelet with half a cheese stick, and mixed berries with peanut butter. Lunch is vegetarian chili with tofu, tomatoes, peppers, onions, black beans, mushrooms, and spices. Snacks will be carrots and cheese, and chick peas and cheese. Dinner is another veggie omelet with cheese, peppers, tomatoes, and more beans. Late night snack of fruit and chicken or turkey lunchmeat.

So far since I started heavily zoning and really focusing on my foods and eating more favorables I've lost 3.5lbs. Just about 1lb per week.

Go, Becky! Good work. My own weight loss has been so slow......because.......I sneak things once in a while....like an extra glass of wine that I pretend the zone gods can't seee me drink....or a rye cracker after dinner that's not zoned and not part of my late night snack.....but I sort let myself get away with it cuz I continue to lose (at a snail pace) about half a lb. a week. I should tighten up and go for a pound a week like you !

Dr. Barry Sears, PhD.Dr. Barry Sears is a leading authority on the dietary control of hormonal response. A former research scientist at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Sears has dedicated his research efforts over the past 30 years to the study of lipids. He holds 13 U.S. Patents in the areas of intravenous drug delivery systems and hormonal regulation for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

A turning point in his research occurred in 1982. That year, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded for discoveries of the role that specialized hormones, known as eicosanoids, play in the development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, and cancer. Since eicosanoids are only generated from dietary fat, Dr. Sears reasoned that one could apply intravenous drug delivery principles to nutrition in order to control these exceptionally powerful hormonal responses with laser-like precision. In essence, his approach treats food as if it were a drug.

This area of his research led to various patents in the area of hormonal control by essentially using food as an oral drug delivery system to modulate eicosanoids especially for cardiovascular, diabetic, and neurological patients.

The impact of Dr. Sears’ revolutionary work in the dietary control of hormonal response began with the publication of his landmark book, The Zone. Since its publication in June 1995, The Zone has sold more than 2,000,000 hardcover copies, and became a #1 best seller on the New York Times book list. In addition, The Zone has been translated into 22 languages indicating a worldwide response to Dr. Sears’ research. His second book, Mastering the Zone, published in 1997, also became a New York Times bestseller with hardcover sales in excess of 500,000 copies to date. His third book, Zone Perfect Meals in Minutes, published in 1997, quickly became one of the best-selling cookbooks of 1997 and an another New York Times bestseller. The Anti-Aging Zone was published in 1999 and provides the molecular insights into how the Zone Diet can reverse the aging process. The Omega Rx Zone, published in 2002, explores the molecular foundation of chronic disease and how high-dose fish oil can dramatically reverse it. His latest book The Anti-Inflammation Zone discusses how to combat silent inflammation in order to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and many other inflammatory conditions—and how to reverse these conditions if they are already present. To date more than 5 million hardcover copies of his Zone books have been sold in the United States.

His research has elevated food from more than simply a source of calories to being recognized as an exceptionally powerful drug. Because of his revolutionary research, Dr. Sears has been a frequent guest on many national programs such as 20/20, Today, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, CNN, and MSNBC.

Dr. Sears continues his ongoing research as President of Zone Labs, a biotechnology company in Danvers, MA as well as the President of the non-profit Inflammation Research Foundation in Marblehead, MA. In addition to continuing research on the hormonal effects of food, Dr. Sears has expanded his research in developing innovative dietary approaches to treating cancer and neurological conditions, as well as his on-going work in treating cardiovascular diease and type 2 diabetes.

I have been taking the Fish Oil for over 3 years now. I am 44 playing hockey and working out. The Fish oil helps with the pain that I get from playing hockey. It greatly enhances my performance on the ice and while working out. I have noticed a big difference in my energy, attentiveness and memory. If I miss a day for whatever reason, I notice a huge difference and it feels like something is missing. Anyway that is my short little story and it comes from the heart.

– Carter B.

I am a nutritionist and Ph.D. doctor of health and nutrition. For Dr. Sears to figure out balancing fat, carbs and protein, is really beyond brilliant. It is a milestone in diet history. I go over people's diet/emotional journals. Mostly all the time, we discover that the fatigue, irritability, unstable emotions were due to the imbalance in their diet. Using the Zone to balance them out, helps control weight, roller coaster emotions and gives them energy. Dr. Sears is so right when he says food is medicine. He has figured out the most powerful drug combination going, called The Zone.
Best and healthy wishes,

– Elaine W., Ph.D., N.C., M.A.

I have a very exhausting job as a flight attendant. I read the "Omega Rx Zone" about 4 years ago and started taking the fish oil. I am 47 and have been flying for 22 years. I am very active, I run and lift weights. But combining lack of regular sleep, a physically demanding job, and irregular eating patterns this job takes a toll on the body. Since taking the fish oil, I have noticed that I do not get exhausted. I get tired, but not exhausted. I stopped taking it for a couple of months and then started taking another company's fish oil. I started getting exhausted again. I came back to Zone Labs and will continue with the fish oil for the rest of my life. I believe in the product and it makes a huge difference in my life. It makes a difference with my running as well. I also bring the bars and shakes with me on the road. It is almost impossible to eat the way I should at work. I haven't found the right secret. At least I have my Zone fish oil, bars, and shakes.

I have been in the Zone, for about 1 month now. I wanted to share with you how wonderful I think this program is. I have been a personal trainer for almost 10 years and actively compete in numerous athletic activities. The Zone program has helped me to achieve a better awareness of my nutritional needs and the results I have seen are amazing! I have lost nearly 13 lbs since I have been in the Zone. I feel more mentally alert, more focused at work, have greater intensity during my training, have made significant strength gains, and just feel better over all. With that said, I would like to thank you for helping me in my quest for "super-health"!
Thank you!

I read 'The Zone' and as exactly as I could followed the advice for diet. I noted weight loss progress. Over six months, I lost 33 pounds. One year has passed since then. I have maintained the new weight, guided always by Zone concepts. The Zone is powerful - I have found it fantastic and I am very grateful to Dr Sears.

Before I stumbled across the Zone I was weighing close to two hundred pounds and I was depressed. I used to be a gymnast as a young man. I would think, "look at me now," when I looked in a mirror. The day I found 'The Zone' book, I was intrigued and as I read it the science made sense and so, I began to follow the "treatment". I began to lose weight and I was feeling way more energetic. I am forty two years old, I am very active and my weight is down to 162 lbs, 38 pounds lost on the Zone. I cycle, walk, jog, swim and I can now perform some of the more simple gymnastic skills I did twenty years ago...I literally feel like I have turned back the clock.
Thank you!

I have been on the Zone diet for 7 years. I did not go on the diet to lose weight necessarily; but fairly quickly I lost 25 pounds, going from 190 to 165; from a 36-inch waist to a 32-inch waist. I primarily did the Zone to live healthier. My health is excellent now. I just turned 62 years old. My Zone is my eating lifestyle now; I seldom stray; and I do not miss anything. It is The Good Life.

My wife's doctor told her to read "Enter the Zone" and to do the diet, so I told her I would do it with her. After only one week on the plan we went on a strenuous hike (the first of the year), and when we stopped at our favorite coffee shop on the way home I was able to get out of the car and stand upright and walk into the place without pain or stiffness. The Zone had eliminated all the inflammation that had always forced me to stumble all humped over into the coffee shop any time we skied or hiked all day.
Thank you, Doctor Sears.

I used to have a lot of knee pain when I walked or ran. I have been taking Omega Rx for almost a year now, and rarely have any pain. I believe it is the anti-inflammation action of the oil. I feel smarter as well. Thanks for developing such a superior oil!

Prior to following the Zone Diet, my body fat was around 15% and my weight around 153 pounds. No matter what I did, my weight and body fat did not change much. I regularly cycled 20-30 hours per week logging well over 400 miles. That had little impact on body fat or weight. Diet also seemed to have little impact on body fat or weight. Within a couple of months of following the zone diet, my weight dropped rather quickly to 142 pounds and body fat to about 8%. I still regularly cycle up to 20 hours per week (during the summer). I have also started strength training. I eat about 16 blocks per day. I take 3.6 grams of fish oil per day, along with Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, CoQ10, and B & C vitamins. I also take GLA, which in my opinion, has significantly reduced fatigue and improved recovery times after exercise.

All polyphenols have antioxidant properties than can be measured by their Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC), but not all polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties. The polyphenols in Dr. Sears’ Zone Polyphenol Plus have been carefully chosen to have both.

Polyphenols are the phytochemicals that not only give fruits and vegetables their color, but also help regulate inflammation. In addition, polyphenols also activate the key enzyme (AMP kinase) that helps restore cellular ATP levels. Polyphenols also help regulate the activation of inducible inflammatory proteins (such as COX-2 and inflammatory cytokines).

There are more than 4,000 known polyphenols, and the richest sources are fruits and vegetables. In general, the more color a fruit or vegetable has, the richer the polyphenol content.

 7. True Molecular Distillation – final refining to remove pcb’s and long-chain monoenes
 8. Rigid Processes – proprietary validation, inspection and encapsulation methods. Independent lab verification of IFOS requirements and certified 5 star rating

Clean Sources

No farmed fish. No large fish. Pristine waters.

Zone Labs starts with wild sardines & anchovies fished from cold, pristine waters off of South America where there are less environmental impurities.

A recommended serving of Zone Labs Ultra-Refined Concentrates delivers 8 times more omega-3’s than a typical retail fish oil supplement.

Most fish oil supplements have 30% or less of the healthy omega-3s EPA and DHA, with the remaining 70% of the capsule containing unbeneficial, lesser refined fatty acids that contribute to their bad taste and gastric side effects.

Getting a clinically valid dose of omega-3’s is easy with Zone Labs’ Ultra-Refined Omega-3 Concentrates.

Typical Retail Dose = 300mg omega-3

Standard Zone Dose = 2400mg omega-3
