Good evening everyone. CC - congrats on that willpower over the donuts. Atta girl with a pat on the back for good measure! Laurie - I will be in Orlando end of November (11/27-12/02) Going to Disney World in the winter for the first time. I've always gone in June before. Aargh the heat and humidity. And this is coming from someone who has lived in Texas her whole life! I'm looking forward to it not being so hot. Kathleen - LOL at the $20 bribe. You handled it well. When I was first started, I was like you with the baked chicken, etc and massive amounts of greens. After awhile you will start to get creative. I still eat the same food, but I keep trying to come up with different ways to fix them. Sue, I hear what you're saying about spreading the good word. I've lost enough now that it's noticeable with my clothes fitting loose. Just over the last few days, I've had so many compliments and people asking what I am doing. I tell them www.zonediet.com. LOL. Jana, I meant to ask if you have a favorite hockey team/player. I'm watching the Bruins/Caps play. Ovechkin is one my favorites. I'm curious too as how the lack of carbs keeps you up. My meals/snacks - JUMP START 4:30am 1C/1P/1F ½ cup probotic yogurt 2 cashews BREAKFAST 8:00am 2C/2C/2F 2/3 cup oatmeal 3 slices turkey bacon 2 egg whites 6 almonds LUNCH 3C/3P/3F 11:30am 1 cup okra 1/3 cup applesauce 2 campiri tomatoes 1 smoked pork chop 6 cashews SNACK 2:30pm 1C/1P/1F 1/3 cup fruit cocktail 1 oz jerkey 6 peanuts DINNER 6:45pm 3C/3P/3F 2 cups broccoli 1/3 cup grits 8 cherries 1 oz sundried tomato cheese 3 oz shrimp 1 tsp olive oil SNACK ready to go at 9:30pm 1C/1P/1F ¼ cup blueberries ¼ cup cottage cheese 6 peanuts |

Happy October all! Sue - I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Peace to you and all her friends and family. CC - great job on resisting the donut!! That would be hard for me to do I think! Laurie - I'm laughing about it being chilly here in Florida! In Naples, we had a "cool front" move through. I think it was about 74 this morning with low humidity, but then warmed up to 92!! So much for a cool front!! Kathleen- you have horses?! Love them! Deborah - Disney in Nov/Dec should be fantastic weather! I love winter in FL! I am back in the Zone with tonight's snack of cottage cheese, a peach and 3 almonds. I am feeling much better, but I can tell my stomach is still a bit sensitive. My eating has been kind of here and there over the last 4 days. One of the things bugging me now is that the meds I am taking leave a metallic taste in my mouth and nothing seems to taste quite right. Night! |

Thanks for the "back-pats" everyone! Believe me, I know I didn't really want to eat them, nothing in them that would do me any good except a bit of immediate pleasure. But, that aroma was just driving me crazy! I left that room craving sweets so bad! I had eaten my lunch, plus 2-3 grapes from my snack bag just to help with the desire for sweet. Janet, hmmm, northern California? I really thought you were in Canada! Must have been someone else I was thinking of. In any case, it has been cool, a sign of the season to come. |

OH, you Florida girls! Cooling off into the 70's? I don't think we ever got any warmer than the 70s for most of our summer, but I guess we did have a few days in the 80's. I can remember back in June, I went up north to a GS camp to do lifeguard training, and it never got warmer than the high 60's, and there we were swimming in a lake that was probably around 50 degrees (I asked the camp director, she said that the lake water was THAT cold!). My evening didn't go as planned. Never even got home for dinner, ended up grabbing a bar at a convenience store, one of those Snickers with higher protein, so it was balanced. Actually wasn't too bad, but I would probably will not do that too often. |

Good morning all! Kathleen -- I know what you mean about the water temperature here -- it gets like bath water in June -- yuk! Not at all refreshing. I actually don't go to the beach from April/early May until October. But from Oct - early April, the weather down here is perfect :-) . Just wish we had some more variety in the foliage -- I really miss the fall colors! Deborah -- we went to Disney in June this year (it was my first time, believe it or not!) -- wow, it was WAY too hot! Fortunately, we stayed on one of the Disney resorts (splurged on the kids with my tax refund :-) ... ), so we were able to go back to the hotel and hang out by the pool during the day, then hit the parks at night. You're going at the best time of year (Nov-Dec) -- it's going to be a blast! Congrats on your weight loss and the compliments :-) ... I had so much weight to lose, that I had to lose 50 pounds before anyone even noticed! I guess it didn't help that I continued to wear my size 26/28 clothes as long as possible -- didn't want to spend money on clothes that would be getting too big. What you'll notice is that as you get closer to your goal weight, it takes much less weight coming off to result in a smaller size. I remember when I could finally fit into a size 10 -- I bought these great black pants at Ross (a discount store) -- Liz Claiborne for about $20. Fortunately, they carried them in every size, because every few weeks I had to go back and buy the next smaller size. That was fun :-) -- last size I bought was a 4 petite (I'm only 5'4", with small frame) and they're actually baggy now. Sharyn -- LOL at our Florida "cold front", right? It's funny how we're all wearing sweaters now, but by midday it's up in the 90's. I remember when I was traveling down to FL from NY for work (before I relocated here) -- you could tell the FL residents from the visitors, because we were all wearing short sleeves and no jacket in December (when the temp was in the 60's), but the Floridians were wearing sweaters, coats and gloves! So on to Accountability -- after a good day yesterday, I again struggled with cravings late at night. Honestly, I think it was entirely due to being tired and stressed. I had some unfavorable carbs earlier in the day, but balanced them and didn't feel any unexpected hunger or lack of focus. At around 12 am, just before going to bed, I got the "munchies" -- but kept them in relative control by counting and (somewhat) balancing. Woke up this morning feeling just fine, no cravings, no bloating. I did wind up going over by 4 blocks for the day though yesterday. I'm resisting the temptation to cut back extra blocks today -- that's the mindset I'm used to from my years of "dieting" -- if I went over my goal for the day, I'd cut back over the next several days to make up for it. That's a recipe for disaster (lowers metabolism, not to mention sets me up for failure). So today I'm going to stick to my normal 11-block target. I'm at the top of my 5-pound goal range now, after being just about at the bottom last Saturday. I'm hoping to get back into the low-end of the range within the next week (I KNOW I didn't eat nearly enough to gain 4 pounds! ... I'm sure much of it is water weight, which I'm sure will come off as soon as I'm back on track). Have a good day all! Laurie |

Kathleen, re elaborate meals...mine might sound it, but they're really pretty simple because I use lots of shortcuts. My home made lentil soup is simply onions and celery sautéed in a little olive oil for about 5-7 min, and then add cooked lentils (I use Trader Joe's Steamed Lentils; they're less mushy, meaning more Zone favorable), chicken stock, and seasonings you like. Takes about 10-12 min. total. My 3 kids’ ages were from 8 to 17 when we started the Zone. Since I was a former veggie hater (yep, really...love ‘em now), I did a lot for thinking out of the box to come up with quick, easy meals for the 5 of us that that tasted reeeeeally good. That helped me get past eating tons of veggies, plus the rest of the family didn't miss the foods they loved as much as you'd think because the new foods were so delicious. It doesn't happen overnight, but you'll get there. Glad to hear you don't take the $20 and bake the choc cake, lol! But really, you’re doing a great thing for your kids. Mine are now ages 23 to 32, all on their own, and still eating this way. Our little grandson, a year old in a couple weeks, is even eating the kinds of Zone foods that make his grandma happy. Since he started on solids a few months ago (he's a breast fed baby), my daughter's been feeding him their food that she grinds in the baby food mill (just like I use do for her). His menu sounds even better than mine. He eats a huge variety, all the most Zone friendly foods, like carrots, broccoli, spinach, green beans, squash (he likes fresh basil added, lol!), avocado, black beans, blueberries, peaches, apples, chicken, turkey, even salmon! My point, it pays to stick with the fruits and veggies for you whole family. Your kids will take some or all of that with them for the rest of their lives. I know you've had a great Zone experience so far. Just wait until you see how amazing you feel in another few weeks, months, even years. It's amazing. One of the things never expected is how different it feels to be in your own body once you get to you ideal body fat %( in the low 20's for body fat %). For me, now my body is just there; it feels very light and at the same time strong, like it's working for me, not hampering my every effort. It's a bit hard to put into words, but when I was heavier I could feel the heaviness, like I could sense every inch of my body weighing me down, dragging me down. Keep up the good job, and have fun finding new things to eat! Not everything you try will necessarily work for you and your family, but keep trying and you'll find your new favorites. |

Thanks Sharyn.
Glad you'er feeling a bit better.
Here's a tip to help you feel even better. I'm not sure if you doc explained, but while you're getting rid of the yeast and reestablishing your digestive system/intestinal flora (at least this is what it sounds like you're doing from the info you posted), it's a good idea not to eat dairy, other than yogurt with active cultures. |

Kathleen...as Deborah mentioned, you will get more creative with your meals as you get more experience being in the zone. Soon it will come quite naturally, especially if you were a cook/baker pre-Zone. In the meantime, feel free to 'borrow' any of our meals that we post :-)
Deb...I'm actually a Leafs fan (I know a gluton for punishment!!)...but we enjoy watching Ovechkin too and all other truly talented players. Of course watching our kids play is the best for me! We were fortunate enough 2 winters ago to get box seats for our entire family at the ACC, it was a business function for DH and they told him to bring the whole family along....don't think they realized there were 7 of us when they offered LOL!!! It was an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience...we met Carlton bear and Wendel Clark came to the box and we got pics with him and autographs....dinner was even included! Its next to impossible to get regular tickets here and even when you can get your hands on them the prices are insane ($200-$700 per seat!!!!) so the opportunity for us to all go together (and for free!) was incredible.
The reason the lack of carb in my snack would wake me is because its not Zone balanced (only contained protein and fat). The carb slows the protein going through you bloodstream and without it ketosis can occur and when the protein 'fuel' runs out the reaction is to either get hungry or for the blood sugar to spike which can wake you from sleep (if you are sensitive, as I seem to be). The point of the bedtime snack is to keep you in the Zone while you are sleeping, but if you eat out of balance it will take you OOZ even though you are sleeping and you feel the same effects as if you ate out of balance during the day.
Thurs Oct 1/09: B: Janet's Smoothie (3 blocks) L: Beef Barley soup balanced with a light baby bell cheese and 3 almonds (3 blocks) S: I know I had one, but can't remember what it was! (1 block) D: Chicken Fajita Salad (3oz chicken, sauteed peppers and onion, over romaine lettuce, topped with salsa, guacamole and a little lf shredded texmex cheese), pear for desert (3blocks) S: smartpop, cheese (1block)

I know I am carb sensitive, but I am not sure if I have ever been awakened by hunger. Usually I can sleep through it, but perhaps wake up hungry (which doesn't really happen in the Zone for me). Kathleen, I am with you on eating naked! LOL and if we keep at it, we should be looking really good eating naked! Laurie, I have had times where I think it is lack of sleep and added stress that pushes me OOZ, rather than my food choices. Goes to show us that the Zone is a complete lifestyle change, not just another eating plan. Now, I am no expert in dealing with lack of sleep or stress, but good food choices are of utmost importance. No, I would not cut back either, but be mindful of the quality of food that you are eating, and maybe you should eat naked with Kathleen and I! |

Oh, it is going to be an interesting night! House full of teenagers (or tweenies) as my daughter has her "girlfriend" sleepover party. She turned 13 last weekend, but due to circumstances we had to wait until tonight for the sleepover. Lots of music and screaming! |

CC- Did you feed all those teens "in the zone"? Not sure if teenage girls eat like teenage boys, but I know from experience teenage boys eat like horses. (Trust me, I 've had both. The horses are cheaper to feed!)
Sharyn- Yes, we have horses! The boys and I all compete in speed events (although, I've only been able to compete in one show in the past two years due to my health issues), and my boys compete in team roping also. My oldest son is in first place in the point standings regionally, and just qualified last week to go to the Nationals this year as a header, so we are very excited around here about that!
Back to food...confession...I've been skipping the before bed snack because my "diet mentality" said it was bad to eat and then go to sleep. But since reading your posts about low carbs waking you, I've reread what Dr. Sears had to say about the before bed snack and last night decided to try some apple sauce mixed with peanut butter and protein powder (I think CC suggested this on another thread for sick people- I"m also fighting bronchitis that I can't seem to get over). I still woke up during the night 3-4 times, but I've also been diagnosed with sleep apnea.
So...questions...Do you think I'm waking up at night because of not eating the before bed snack (maybe I need to give it 4-5 days before I expect to see a difference), or is it the sleep apnea waking me? Granted the coughing with the current bronchitis isn't helping, but I was waking during the night even before I came down with the bronchitis. I sleep with a CPAP machine, but I can't really tell it helps that much. I still wake up.
Up until the past couple of years, I slept wonderfully. My family used to joke about me tossing and turning for like 22 seconds before I finally dozed off. Now, I can't sleep more than about 3 hours in a stretch, no matter how tired I am. I'm assuming that good sleeping was in large part due to ice cream before bed but with trying to lose weight, I quit eating after about 6 pm.
As an afterthought, I do feel better this morning than I have since I came down with the bronchitis. Not nearly as tired and sluggish feeling.
I would very much appreciate everyones thoughts. I'm sick and tired of not being able to sleep at night. Literally. |

| Hi Kathleen! I don't know that anyone, even your doctors, would be able to pinpoint exactly why you're waking at night. It's probably a combination of things. You've been having positive results overall in the Zone, and that will provide you with excellent support for all of your health concerns. The bedtime snack is very important for the Zone, whether or not you're waking at night, as you've already learned for reading Barry Sears' explanations of that snack. A tip, if you're taking your daily fish oil dose with your evening meal or later, switch to taking it at breakfast. Some people (including me) don't sleep well when taking fish oil later in the day or evening. |

Hi Kathleen, me again. I wanted to keep these two different topics in separate posts. My son is 23, will be 24 in a few mos, and has been eating in the Zone since he was 8 1/2. As a growing teenager, he'd eat at least a couple of extra meals a day, in the form of full meals or sometimes a few large snacks, these in addition to his 3 meals and the usual snacks (if you try to figure out their blocks, teens would use the adult recommendations, but increased their activity level by 1 or 2 levels to allow for the fact that they’re still growing). My son lives on his own now, but as a teen he always liked to put together his own snacks and meals. He'd do it from scratch, and also from things I'd keep things on hand, already prepared (like the sausage, chili, chicken, and some of the other foods I’m going to mention next). Some of his favorites:
low fat Italian chicken or turkey sausage in spaghetti sauce
a bowl of chili
fajitas without the tortilla
huge salads (he's always loved salads!)
nachos (sort of like the Taco Bell Nacho Bel Grande fixin's piled on a plate with only a 5 or 6 taco chips crumbled over the top)
cold chicken salad and fruit (chicken breast chunks mixed with a lithe canola oil mayo, S&P)
apple crisp with a piece of lower fat cheese (no sweetener, topping of slivered almonds, thick rolled oats and spices...ground coriander and cinnamon are delicious together)
stir-fried veggies and protein (a bag of frozen veggies in and a little olive oil thrown in a skillet for 5 min, when done add pieces of already cooked chicken and a little soy sauce; it’s a whole meal that a teen can make in less than 10 min)
soup and cheese or some leftover meat
The combinations are many, and it’s easy, as long as there’s Zone friendly food on hand. Many of these are simple to have ready or close to in the fridge on a regular basis with little time or effort on your part, especially chicken salad and the sausage tomato sauce dish. It’s simply sausages with a jar of sauce poured on top, and thrown in the oven for a half hour or so. I'd make a 9X13 baking dish full that would last him and a friend or two for a few days (his friends never ate as much as he did, which was good!).
Also , for those readers who don’t have teens in the house, these things are all delicious, easy and quick meals for anyone in the Zone.

Sue- I was thinking the same thing Janet said about the new pic- too cute!
Thank you for the advice. I can't afford the Zone fish oil right now, so I bought some at Walmart (I know, not the best choice, but better than nothing). Yesterday I realized the dose is much less than what Dr. Sears prescribed. I was taking one capsule in the morning and one at night. Starting yesterday, I took 3 in a.m. and 3 pm. As today progresses, I feel better and better, and I'm wondering if the fish oil increase might be why. I'm still getting less than Dr. S Rx'd, but with the other meds I'm on, I'm already taking a handful of pills twice a day, so I hate to take more unless it will really help a lot. I'll take the 2nd dose early afternoon and see if that helps. Thank you.
Janet- I keep thinking weight loss will help resolve ALL my medical problems, but I just can't seem to lose the weight, no matter what I do. Even fasting, I don't lose. Is melatonin something you can buy at, say, Walmart? And what about the herbal antiinflammatory? Whats it called? Where do you get it? Thank you so much. |

Thank Kathleen. :-) I can't wait to see him again next week (been 2 1/2 mos since I last was there.) We do video chats every few days. He's my little sweetie pie! About that fish oil from Walmart, it would be better to stay with a very low dose or better yet stop it altogether. It's not a safe fish oil to ingest because the levels of pollutants in it are too high. I'd suggest reading TOXIC FAT to find out more about it. The right kind of fish oil at the right dose will help a lot, both for chronic health conditions and with your weight loss. Here's my experience with it; many others have equally impressive results in many areas: http://www.zonediet.com/Community/Forums/tabid/121/forumid/4/postid/37029/view/topic/Default.aspx Look at my 2.28.09, 12:06 PM posting in this thread. |

Dr. Barry Sears is a leading authority on the dietary control of hormonal response. A former research scientist at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Sears has dedicated his research efforts over the past 30 years to the study of lipids. He holds 13 U.S. Patents in the areas of intravenous drug delivery systems and hormonal regulation for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
A turning point in his research occurred in 1982. That year, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded for discoveries of the role that specialized hormones, known as eicosanoids, play in the development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, and cancer. Since eicosanoids are only generated from dietary fat, Dr. Sears reasoned that one could apply intravenous drug delivery principles to nutrition in order to control these exceptionally powerful hormonal responses with laser-like precision. In essence, his approach treats food as if it were a drug.
This area of his research led to various patents in the area of hormonal control by essentially using food as an oral drug delivery system to modulate eicosanoids especially for cardiovascular, diabetic, and neurological patients.
The impact of Dr. Sears’ revolutionary work in the dietary control of hormonal response began with the publication of his landmark book, The Zone. Since its publication in June 1995, The Zone has sold more than 2,000,000 hardcover copies, and became a #1 best seller on the New York Times book list. In addition, The Zone has been translated into 22 languages indicating a worldwide response to Dr. Sears’ research. His second book, Mastering the Zone, published in 1997, also became a New York Times bestseller with hardcover sales in excess of 500,000 copies to date. His third book, Zone Perfect Meals in Minutes, published in 1997, quickly became one of the best-selling cookbooks of 1997 and an another New York Times bestseller. The Anti-Aging Zone was published in 1999 and provides the molecular insights into how the Zone Diet can reverse the aging process. The Omega Rx Zone, published in 2002, explores the molecular foundation of chronic disease and how high-dose fish oil can dramatically reverse it. His latest book The Anti-Inflammation Zone discusses how to combat silent inflammation in order to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and many other inflammatory conditions—and how to reverse these conditions if they are already present. To date more than 5 million hardcover copies of his Zone books have been sold in the United States.
His research has elevated food from more than simply a source of calories to being recognized as an exceptionally powerful drug. Because of his revolutionary research, Dr. Sears has been a frequent guest on many national programs such as 20/20, Today, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, CNN, and MSNBC.
Dr. Sears continues his ongoing research as President of Zone Labs, a biotechnology company in Danvers, MA as well as the President of the non-profit Inflammation Research Foundation in Marblehead, MA. In addition to continuing research on the hormonal effects of food, Dr. Sears has expanded his research in developing innovative dietary approaches to treating cancer and neurological conditions, as well as his on-going work in treating cardiovascular diease and type 2 diabetes.

I have been taking the Fish Oil for over 3 years now. I am 44 playing hockey and working out. The Fish oil helps with the pain that I get from playing hockey. It greatly enhances my performance on the ice and while working out. I have noticed a big difference in my energy, attentiveness and memory. If I miss a day for whatever reason, I notice a huge difference and it feels like something is missing. Anyway that is my short little story and it comes from the heart.

I am a nutritionist and Ph.D. doctor of health and nutrition. For Dr. Sears to figure out balancing fat, carbs and protein, is really beyond brilliant. It is a milestone in diet history. I go over people's diet/emotional journals. Mostly all the time, we discover that the fatigue, irritability, unstable emotions were due to the imbalance in their diet. Using the Zone to balance them out, helps control weight, roller coaster emotions and gives them energy. Dr. Sears is so right when he says food is medicine. He has figured out the most powerful drug combination going, called The Zone.
Best and healthy wishes,
– Elaine W., Ph.D., N.C., M.A.
I have a very exhausting job as a flight attendant. I read the "Omega Rx Zone" about 4 years ago and started taking the fish oil. I am 47 and have been flying for 22 years. I am very active, I run and lift weights. But combining lack of regular sleep, a physically demanding job, and irregular eating patterns this job takes a toll on the body. Since taking the fish oil, I have noticed that I do not get exhausted. I get tired, but not exhausted. I stopped taking it for a couple of months and then started taking another company's fish oil. I started getting exhausted again. I came back to Zone Labs and will continue with the fish oil for the rest of my life. I believe in the product and it makes a huge difference in my life. It makes a difference with my running as well. I also bring the bars and shakes with me on the road. It is almost impossible to eat the way I should at work. I haven't found the right secret. At least I have my Zone fish oil, bars, and shakes.

I have been in the Zone, for about 1 month now. I wanted to share with you how wonderful I think this program is. I have been a personal trainer for almost 10 years and actively compete in numerous athletic activities. The Zone program has helped me to achieve a better awareness of my nutritional needs and the results I have seen are amazing! I have lost nearly 13 lbs since I have been in the Zone. I feel more mentally alert, more focused at work, have greater intensity during my training, have made significant strength gains, and just feel better over all. With that said, I would like to thank you for helping me in my quest for "super-health"!
Thank you!
– Rob Y.
I read 'The Zone' and as exactly as I could followed the advice for diet. I noted weight loss progress. Over six months, I lost 33 pounds. One year has passed since then. I have maintained the new weight, guided always by Zone concepts. The Zone is powerful - I have found it fantastic and I am very grateful to Dr Sears.

Before I stumbled across the Zone I was weighing close to two hundred pounds and I was depressed. I used to be a gymnast as a young man. I would think, "look at me now," when I looked in a mirror. The day I found 'The Zone' book, I was intrigued and as I read it the science made sense and so, I began to follow the "treatment". I began to lose weight and I was feeling way more energetic. I am forty two years old, I am very active and my weight is down to 162 lbs, 38 pounds lost on the Zone. I cycle, walk, jog, swim and I can now perform some of the more simple gymnastic skills I did twenty years ago...I literally feel like I have turned back the clock.
Thank you!
– Jack J.
I have been on the Zone diet for 7 years. I did not go on the diet to lose weight necessarily; but fairly quickly I lost 25 pounds, going from 190 to 165; from a 36-inch waist to a 32-inch waist. I primarily did the Zone to live healthier. My health is excellent now. I just turned 62 years old. My Zone is my eating lifestyle now; I seldom stray; and I do not miss anything. It is The Good Life.
– Curtis Y.
My wife's doctor told her to read "Enter the Zone" and to do the diet, so I told her I would do it with her. After only one week on the plan we went on a strenuous hike (the first of the year), and when we stopped at our favorite coffee shop on the way home I was able to get out of the car and stand upright and walk into the place without pain or stiffness. The Zone had eliminated all the inflammation that had always forced me to stumble all humped over into the coffee shop any time we skied or hiked all day.
Thank you, Doctor Sears.
– Larry C.
I used to have a lot of knee pain when I walked or ran. I have been taking Omega Rx for almost a year now, and rarely have any pain. I believe it is the anti-inflammation action of the oil. I feel smarter as well. Thanks for developing such a superior oil!
– Joe W.
Prior to following the Zone Diet, my body fat was around 15% and my weight around 153 pounds. No matter what I did, my weight and body fat did not change much. I regularly cycled 20-30 hours per week logging well over 400 miles. That had little impact on body fat or weight. Diet also seemed to have little impact on body fat or weight. Within a couple of months of following the zone diet, my weight dropped rather quickly to 142 pounds and body fat to about 8%. I still regularly cycle up to 20 hours per week (during the summer). I have also started strength training. I eat about 16 blocks per day. I take 3.6 grams of fish oil per day, along with Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, CoQ10, and B & C vitamins. I also take GLA, which in my opinion, has significantly reduced fatigue and improved recovery times after exercise.

All polyphenols have antioxidant properties than can be measured by their Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC), but not all polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties. The polyphenols in Dr. Sears’ Zone Polyphenol Plus have been carefully chosen to have both.
Polyphenols are the phytochemicals that not only give fruits and vegetables their color, but also help regulate inflammation. In addition, polyphenols also activate the key enzyme (AMP kinase) that helps restore cellular ATP levels. Polyphenols also help regulate the activation of inducible inflammatory proteins (such as COX-2 and inflammatory cytokines).
There are more than 4,000 known polyphenols, and the richest sources are fruits and vegetables. In general, the more color a fruit or vegetable has, the richer the polyphenol content.

- Oil conversion to ethyl esters
- Ethyl ester thermal fractionation – remove additional saturated fats
- True Molecular Distillation – final refining to remove pcb’s and long-chain monoenes

No farmed fish. No large fish. Pristine waters.
Zone Labs starts with wild sardines & anchovies fished from cold, pristine waters off of South America where there are less environmental impurities.
A recommended serving of Zone Labs Ultra-Refined Concentrates delivers 8 times more omega-3’s than a typical retail fish oil supplement.
Most fish oil supplements have 30% or less of the healthy omega-3s EPA and DHA, with the remaining 70% of the capsule containing unbeneficial, lesser refined fatty acids that contribute to their bad taste and gastric side effects.
Getting a clinically valid dose of omega-3’s is easy with Zone Labs’ Ultra-Refined Omega-3 Concentrates.
Typical Retail Dose = 300mg omega-3
Standard Zone Dose = 2400mg omega-3
