| I don't think it has to do with the shape of your body but with the percentage of body fat. The zone diet also is to achieve good health as well as weight loss. |

| It is quite possible to have 6-pack abs and be unhealthy and to be a bit overweight and perfectly healthy. |

| Barry Sears makes a point about that, in TOXIC FAT. There can be many skinny people out there who are carrying high levels of inflammation. At the same time, some others who carry additional fat can remain very healthy, as long as their fat does not become toxic. |

| It is not uncommon for an "expert" in any given field to subscribe to the "do as I say, not as I do" philosophy. I have seen fitness coaches who were very knowledgeable, but not in the best of shape themselves. Your doctor can probably give you health tips, but be very unhealthy themselves. Point is I think Dr. Sears is very knowledgeable concerning nutrition and health and his ideas can benefit the majority who follow his guidelines. I don't know that he is very knowledgeable concerning fitness, but that isn't his expertise. I don't know if he follows the Zone principles or not, but that doesn't diminish the importance of the information he makes available. |

| I believe that he definitely does follow the zone principles. He is not an elite athlete, but works with elite athletes. He is a scientist. His genetic predisposition to a certain shape does not bother me at all. We all work with genetics...for better or worse. I would not be as comfortable working with this diet if he were an elite athlete since that is far from my focus in life. Yay, scientists! |

Clifford you are right about the fitness thing, however I would never listen to a fitness expert or personal trainer who was overweight!Likewise I would be less likely to believe a money saving expert who didnt have any money!
Dont get me wrong I thing the Zone diet is a fantastic and healthy diet. Anything that gets people eating more fruit and veg and less processed crap is great.
Its also great for performance and the Crossfit community have adapted it and use it to increase their fitness levels. However I feel that to say people feel great because of the magical 40:30:30 ratio is a mistake. In the athletes zone where you increase the fat levels 5x the ratio then becomes 25:15:60. In theory, they are out of the zone and shouldnt feel good, but they do. |

Andrew, what you are forgetting is that the Zone is not a strict 40/30/30 ratio. That is basically the starting point, and then each individual adjusts from there. Basically, if you looked at my diet, I am more of a 30/30/40 person, that is the ratio that keeps ME in the Zone. BTW, back to topic, I just received a shipment of fish oil, and there was a brochure with Barry pictured at a recent event. He didn't look overweight to me. |

| Also, you have to remember, that he is following the Zone;and his overall health is good at his age where he is not taking medication. Plus, I don't think that he wants to look like those people in the fitness magazines. I mean, that is just not the point of the diet in the first place. |

| Andrew, on the one hand you say you would never listen to a trainer or fitness expert who look out of shape and on the other hand you mention crossfit positively. Yet, the founder of crossfit, Greg Glassman, looks pretty out of shape to me. |
