My 3 yr. old daughter hasn't eaten any vegetables since she has been eating table food. The last fruit she ate was a banana 3 months ago. She LOVES pasta and lean protein. Her 4 yr. old sister is the opposite. Loves fruits and vegetables. I have feed them exactly the same way since birth. (Breastfed, water, fruits/vegetable baby food, vitamins, etc.) I have tried to introduce things to her off and on, but she won't try anything. Her sister now eats broccoli after being introduced to it. What can else can I do to make sure the 3 yr. old is getting what she needs from fruits and vegetables?

Thanks,

AmyK

Does she like Frosties, Blizzards, etc.? You might try smoothies with different fruits. If you do them with frozen fruit , in the blender, its really thick like a Frosty. You can add a little milk if its too thick but only a splash, like 1 T. or so.
I dont know about the veggies. . . maybe blend them and put them into soups? Maybe its the texture she doesnt like and that might help. I know my grandkids will only eat broccoli with cheese sauce! Not the best way but it gets the broccoli into them! LOL

Hope this is helpful AmyK!
Have a blessed day, Alene

My daughter just turned 4, She's always been big on fruits but veggies to her where a no-no... My way of getting her to eat veggies was bringing her little cousin over who LOVES veggies and all three of us played a "Tea Party"
She saw her little cousin eating broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and all the green stuff and she just went for it!... Give it a try and see how it goes...

some additional tips:

1. Kids sometimes need to taste a food numerous times (I've read up to near 20 times in some cases) before they take a liking to it. I wouldn't force the veggies, but keep offering them on her plate. If she doesnt eat it them now, she may eventually.

2. Spaghetti sauce is one way to get veggies into kids. Try giving it to her on scrabmled eggs, on ground meat, etc. And remember to offer it numerous times, not stopping with the first couple times she turns it down.

3. Simply don't make/serve pasta...the easiest way to stop her from eating it.

4. When offered only the healthiest of food choices, kids will eventually adapt and these foods will become their favorites. (Incidentaly, this works with the most stubborn kids and adults, both!)

Hi, Amy!

I have a 4-year-old at home, and I have been eating in the zone for most of her lifetime. Starting her early on healthy foods has really helped. But, sounds like you tried that!

One other suggestion, which seems to work with my daughter: try eating with her on your lap. Hopefully it doesn't develop into another undesirable habit, but I find that my daughter is much more interested in trying veggies if she sees ME eating them, and they seem to be much more interesting when the food is on MY plate! LOL!

Anyway, if you can get her to eat them off of your plate, then perhaps you can transition her over to eating them off of her plate.

Hi Amy,
I think the only way to go about this is to keep offering different types of veggies. I have a 5 and a 3 year old. They love carrots, celery, red peppers, green peas, cherry tomatoes, and corn. Seems like all the sweet veggies. They also love ranch dressing with it to give it extra flavor. They will not eat broccoli, caulliflower, spinach etc. I would also praise the 4 year old about eating such healthy food! Hopefully the 3 year old will try to imitate the 4 year old. GOOD LUCK!
