Hi Julie,
Your meals weren't that Zone friendly, so that could explain you symptoms. The 3 lb increase on the scale was most likely fluid retention, very common when insulin levels rise above the Zone rage. You might have also picked up a little virus or something.
I posted tips for you about this morning's egg snack in the accountability thread.
One thing that will help a lot will be to keep a closer eye on the kinds of carb foods you eat, keeping the denser carbs to a bare minimum.
Another tip would be to keep hydrated.

Julie, It may be that you have caught a virus. Your symptoms started after having a meal right from the book, so everything that happened after that seems to be just a rebound thing, because your choices weren't the best after that meal at 11:30. The meals in the book are not necessarily "gold star" zone meals, as you are finding out. I am not convinced that all of this came from your meal with the bread, though. Seems like your symptoms were much more severe than they should have been, so I would assume maybe a virus. |

| one egg with toast is neither a meal nor a snack. THe egg is only half a blk (or could count as one blk)of protein....but the toast is at least two......so....brk. would call for more protein. And yes, mom's get no rest, you are really balancing a lot! |

| janet, I think you have egg white in mind. One whole egg is 1 full P block. 2 egg whites are 1 full P block. What Julie ate is 1P, 2 C and plenty of F. If it was a very low carb rye, it could be 1P and 1C with plenty of F. |

CC- Yes, I have my two nieces ages 3, 2 1/2, and 6 months. along with my 15month old and after school my 9 yearold. Some times i have a friend come over and they bring there children... I can have anywere from 4 to 8 kids in my home mon-fri 7am to7pm! calls for a long week. wich is why i go to the gym at 5,6am or 8pm either that or not at all. Janet, in the zone books i have it says you can have 1/5c of whites OR 1 whole egg. rye bread is also in there as a perfered carb and since it is dense 2 pieces would be too much i believe. I also saw reciepes for a 1 egg sandwich. 1 slice low fat cheese, and turkey bacon Or canadian bacon |

oh, ....I realize (as I said in parentheses) that a whole egg can be one blk......I meant that if it was the white of one egg...it would be half a blk but...etc. So, I hope my tone wasn't that of a zone cop.....! I am far from it.....but Julie said "if you see anything off..." And sure, you could have zoned that brk. with some cheese or turky bacon, Julie.... I think that if I hadn't just blurted out my observation it would have sounded more supportive, mea culpa. |

| janet, I agree. Tone is a tricky thing. Especially when the smileys don't work (and I don't even see them now!) |
