Hello,
I am new to the zone way of eating and have felt much better with less headaches. Only trouble is I am 58 years old and have occasional hot flashes. I am not on any hormones except a small amount of progesterone compound cream. Any suggestions about foods or supplements that might help. I am also hypothyroid.

Sounds like you've made good progress Gayle! I'm going to be 57 in a couple of months, have been in the Zone for over 14 years, and I have never once experienced an actual hot flash (and I'm 6 yrs post menopause). I attribute it to my strict adherence to the Zone diet and supplementation with fish oil. I believe that the Zone diet and fish oil are the two most important things you can do. I also include some soy foods in my diet, but not in huge amounts. I've never taken any hormone replacement. I have hypothyroidism also, and take levothyroxine (Levoxyl). I do take some additional supplements, but not specifically relating to post menopausal support.

Lost 100 lbs 15 yrs ago, off BP meds, thanks to the Zone diet and Zone fish oil. ZoneFast 1-2-3 is the best!

Thanks for your reply, Sue. I read all your posts and you are a good role model for this way of life and this forum. I am taking armour thyroid and have just reduced the mgs. this past week. My Vit.D is still on the low side, so I'm upping that and trying 4 grams of fish oil. I take numerous supplements also, but the way of eating in the zone is probably the most important. I just read the chapter on menopause in Anti-Ageing Zone this afternoon.

You're welcome Gayle.

Thanks for your compliments!

THE ANTI-AGING ZONE is an excellent resource. I had a Vit. D deficiency, and it was eliminated with D-3 supplements. In fact my Vit. D levels are now excellent. My endocrinologist manages my supplements. I agree that one's diet is of the utmost importance. Good luck to you!
