I would like to know what kind of impact insulin injections plays in the zone diet. My plan is to stay in the zone and exercise to the point where my body fat will be around 12% and I will no longer need to inject insulin. I'm type 2 shooting 35 units twice daily.

Unless you are completely unable to produce insulin on your own, you should be able to decrease or eliminate your insulin needs.

Your insulin dose is based on what your blood sugar normally runs. If you follow the Zone Diet, your blood sugar may be lower than what you usually run, you probably won't have those post-meal peaks. So, I would recommend frequent testing with your glucometer (I am assuming you do this already).

Let us know how it goes!

I’m a type 1 diabetic, this was my first real week on the Zone. WOW what a hug difference!! I was able to reduce my insulin by 50 units a day. I feel so good.
