I started taking a fish oil supplement. It recommends 1 tsp daily but ask about your specific needs to your physician. (I have elevated lipids and PCOS)
Here is the breakdown:

1 tsp has:
Omega 3-1130 mg
DHA-540 mg 415%
EPA 360 mg 277%
Other Omega-3 230 mg

4.5 grams fat
40 cals
1g sat fat
1.5 poly
2 g mono

Also can someone interpret my cholesterol reading as far as ratio? Its:
Triglycerides:63
HDL: 78
LDL: 156
Total:244

I was eating horribly for a while. Although I knew better. At the time I was stressed and going through a lot and didnt care. So hence my results. So Im changing my lifestyle to take better care of myself. I want to lower total cholesterol but dont want to lower my HDL. I want that to remain high or get higher. Thanks!

Hi Kira,

Dr Sears' fish oil dose recommendations are for Zone Labs fish oils or an equivalent to those. Your fish oil has a very different ratio of EPA to DHA (check out the Omega 3 Tab for more info).

Kira, your numbers are very similar to mine. (See my post "New with Question about Fish Oil." There's some interesting info there from others).

Here's how your ratios work out:
Total/HDL = 3.12 (should be less than 4.44, so that's good!)
LDL/HDL = 2.0 (should be less than 3)
TG/HDL = 0.8 (should be less than 2; I think I read somewhere that 1 is ideal, and you're even below that)

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will jump in here, but I do know how to figure out the ratios and saw that no one had responded to you on that, so I wanted to get this out to you.

Hi!

Kira, your very good Trig/HDL (.81) shows that your LDL particles are the larger fluffy type which don't clog your arteries. With the Zone diet, you'll most likely see the ratios improver even more and your LDL go down, too.
