Help! I bought 2 containers of Zone Protein Powder(1 scoop equals 1 block) and I am not sure what to do with it. Does anyone have a favorite recipe? I was hoping for quick breakfasts or snacks.

I have tried it in 2 blocks of oatmeal and 3 scoops is way to over powering. I don't eat dairy (no cheese, cottage cheese, or milk) so it is hard to find other quick protein to go with 1 block in oatmeal. Turkey bacon was good with it today but I am not up for that very often.

thank you for the help.

Debi,
There is no real reason to use protein powder. What it offers is a typically fat free protein with few or no carbs. If preferred it can be used for one or two blocks for a meal rather than all three...if that is what you are looking for in a meal. It can be added to soups to balance them or to make a shake like the brain shake.

If you eat eggs you could do a zone block of oatmeal with protein powder and a small omlette with some black beans & salsa...not sure how many blocks just giving ideas.

Personally, I like flavored pro powder for the flavor. I use chocolate pro powder in oatmeal or sometimes as the protein for a one block snack.

Hope this helps.

I use protein powder for breakfast smoothies! Add enough carbs of fruit....whatever fruit you want but berries work best...for your carb blks, 3 proteins of the protein powder and a little olive or canola oil for the good fat. Makes a great, quick breakfast or any other quick meal.

Deby,
You could try to doctor up your oatmeal by adding some cocoa powder and some peanut butter to it, along with your 3 blocks of zone protein powder. That may help. You might need to splash on a little bit of milk, just for a bit more moisture.

I also like making smoothies with it. I usually use 2 blocks of the protein powder along with one block of cottage cheese. Then, I blend in strawberries for my carb (I use frozen for a frosty treat), and olive oil for my fat.

I also enjoy adding it to applesauce. I would add one block of protein powder to one block of applesauce (unsweetened) and a block of peanut butter.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I have gotten adjusted to the taste with 1 scoop in oatmeal (I have fallen in love with Turkey bacon for the other protein). The applesause idea worked great aslo.

Great! Depending on the protein powder brand, and the flavor, 3 blocks of it in oatmeal just doesn't always work out all that well. Glad you came up with a workable solution!

I use it all the time. This is my favorite. One scoop of protein, 2/3 of a cup of natural applesauce,1 cup of strawberries, 1-1/2 teaspoons of natural peanut butter, and a dash of cinnamon(optional) a block 3 zone meal. You could also try one scoop of protein. Your choice of 3 blocks of carbs(fruits) and 3 blocks fat. Blend it up in water.
