Hi Everyone!

I'm brand new to the zone! It's been one week exactly today and so far I'm really loving it! I started Crossfit a few months ago and they highly recommend the Zone diet and so i thought i would give it a try!

One thing i'm confused about is how to calculate chicken stock into blocks when i'm making home made soup? Does one cup of chicken stock equal ...one block of... carbs? protein? or is it..less than a cup...i'm confused! I will write out the nutritional facts that are on the box of chicken stock i use! I appreciate any help you can give me!

Ingredients: Water, organic onions, organic celery, organic carrots, organic chicken, sea salt, natural chicken flavor, organic spices.

Welcome, Tiana!

From the nutritional information that you posted, one cup of chicken stock would not even need to be counted here.

In one zone block, there are 7 grams of protein, 9 grams of carb, and 3 grams of fat. Since your stock only has one gram of each nutrient, you would not have to count it unless you used a larger volume of stock.

Hey Tiana, I've been doing Crossfit and the Zone Diet combined since March 2007. I think you have started the 2 most efficacious ways going to lose fat and get fit. It's changed and most likely saved my life.

The Zone will definitely improve your Crossfit performance too. For example, I did Christine in 19 minutes. The same week I started the Zone Diet. 2 weeks later, I did Christine in under 15 minutes! There's no way I could have become 20% fitter in 2 weeks, so the Zone had to have had a big impact.

Down from 30% Body Fat to 18% in 6 months.

so far..i'm loving the zone diet too! i feel like i eat more than i did before..yet...my first week..i lost 5lbs. most of it was probably water weight..as i cant even believe how much salt i was eating prior to the zone...but still. i was a little freaked out at first thinking i was losing it too fast...but here i am in my second week..and its starting to slow down! so i think thats a good sign! dont get me wrong..i want to lose weight..but not THAT fast!

keep it up with your crossfit training!!!! and tell me more stories about your victories!!! sounds amazing!

i cant wait till i'm able master those kipping pullups!!

Can I ask, what is Crossfit?

Sounds like something I can use!

I have actually started the Curves exercise program, and I think that this will work out for me. But, is Crossfit something that can be done at home?

Cranberrycat - Crossfit is a constantly varied, if not randomised, strength and conditioning program inventing by a gymnast, you can find out about it at www.crossfit.com just don't be put off by the military / law enforcement bent that comes across on the site.

In a nut shell, it's a program that draws on elements of gymnastics, Olympic weight lifting and circuit training, all executed at a high intensity. Workouts are generalist in nature and work the whole body, never just bicep curls for example. A days workout is typically in the 15-20 minute range. Everyone worldwide does the same workout that day, scaled by weight and repetitions to your own ability level. Crossfit therefore caters for professional athletes, through to 75 year old great grandmothers alike.

Yes it can be done at home with minimal equipment. Most exercises can be subbed for others if you don't have the kit to do them.

Dr. Barry Sears, PhD.Dr. Barry Sears is a leading authority on the dietary control of hormonal response. I have a very exhausting job as a flight attendant. I read the "Omega Rx Zone" about 4 years ago and started taking the fish oil. I am 47 and have been flying for 22 years. I am very active, I run and lift weights. But combining lack of regular sleep, a physically demanding job, and irregular eating patterns this job takes a toll on the body. Since taking the fish oil, I have noticed that I do not get exhausted. I get tired, but not exhausted. I stopped taking it for a couple of months and then started taking another company's fish oil. My wife's doctor told her to read "Enter the Zone" and to do the diet, so I told her I would do it with her. After only one week on the plan we went on a strenuous hike (the first of the year), and when we stopped at our favorite coffee shop on the way home I was able to get out of the car and stand upright and walk into the place without pain or stiffness. Prior to following the Zone Diet, my body fat was around 15% and my weight around 153 pounds. No matter what I did, my weight and body fat did not change much. I regularly cycled 20-30 hours per week logging well over 400 miles. That had little impact on body fat or weight. Diet also seemed to have little impact on body fat or weight. Within a couple of months of following the zone diet, my weight dropped rather quickly to 142 pounds and body fat to about 8%. I still regularly cycle up to 20 hours per week (during the summer).
