I've been told to use real natural maple syrup as a sweetener instead of honey (which has been pre-digested by bees) and I wonder where this stands in the Zone diet. It's said to have a lot of vitamins & minerals. Any ideas?

In regard to the Zone, maple syrup is an unfavorable carb to be used infrequently and only in very small amounts (not to represent more than 25% of all the insulin stimulating carb in your meal).

I was thinking of possibly using it to sweeten plain yogurt as I don't much care for yogurt and couldn't eat plain alone. I've read a few posts here about using extracts so I might have to try that instead.
