| Hi Martha, I can't wait to hear about the marathon. I was looking at the results and wondering which Belgian woman in your age group was you (the 3:46:35 maybe?). Hope your trip was fun! |

Hello Sue, I forgotten to tell you that I had an ski accident on first of January and was in recovery during 6 weeks ! I had my right knee broken, so, After 6 weeks I restarted to run again, 2 times a week, and now I am able to run half marathon within correct time. I believe it's due to the zone and much fishoil, now the physician is happy because I quite don't need him yet. I didn't took any anti inflamatory medecine, fish oil and ice on my knee ! If it can help for other runners ! Martha |

Martha! I'm happy to hear from you. 3:17, oh wow!!! That's way more than fantastic! I'm so very happy for you! I wondered where you had gone to. :-) Thanks so much for letting me know (and for your bib # too, so now I can go look it up again). My congratulations to your husband too! You should write about your marathon accomplishments and improvements in time since starting the Zone and submit it to this site in the testimonial section. I'm sorry to hear you injured your knee skiing, and I'm glad it's healing well. Ice and fish oil...great! I had one very memorable ski accident many years ago (too many years ago, lol). I landed with the back of my ski stuck straight up in the snow base and the binding didn't release. My knee was badly but thankfully no surgery was needed. Please keep in touch Martha! |

No surgery for me, too. A little explanation for my NYC holidays and marathon. I was very surprised to find all what I needed to eat. I could also eat my usual last dinner before marathon : grilled salmon with green beans with a little bit of dense carbo, I don't remember what it was. For my breakfast, I ate a cooked sort of big pancake that I prepared in Belgium and I brought with me it was as usually 8 white eggs with 4 blocks of cooked oats with a little olive oil all mixed and cooked in a pan. With some coffee. I went bed very early because I had to get up at 4h, I had to take the ferry at 6. The delay of waiting was very long in cold, I was in local competitive program and there were no tent. My start was at 9:40'' if I remember. I had one half zone labs bars (I ordered from Belgium and they delivered them at my Hotel in Time Square). I started without warming up and was very fast. There were much wind and the marathon was not easy to run (in Europe, the marathons are usually flat). I think at half marathon, I was in 1:33' ! The people was so crazy ! Very much emotion ! Sorry for my english, I hope that you understand all I say. I ate like I usually do every 11 km, a little piece of bar with water. I was so happy ! My precedent record was 3:20 and for this marathon that was not easy 3:17'. If you find my pictures you will see that I get up my arms when I passed the finish line.
Now, I intend to run the Berlin marathon. I have already paid my fees. I was invited to Hamburg marathon for free but I am not ready for the 25th of April. Now since my accident, I have already runned 4 races and the results are better than the precedent race. Tomorrow another one, and next week another half marathon. I have programmed another half marathon in Champagne (France) a harder half marathon with climbing hills. Everyone is surprised the manner I go better and better. I am sure that is due to the Zone ! I have already tell them about the Zone, but they are still with carb loading ! Pffff ! Very difficult to change them !
Now I stop writing because I am still in office and have a lot to do before leaving.

Wow Martha -- congratulations!! What an awesome accomplishment, and you're such an inspiration.
I've just started training at the gym this year, and the trainers are always trying to push carbs. I've been limiting to fruits before a workout (balanced with protein/fat), but will try your idea of the egg/oat pancake :-) .

| Hi Sue, since here topic about bars I have question. I bought Apple Cinnamon bars when was sale 50% and after I ate them I have stomach pain, I tried few times with the same result. I want to buy another Dr.Sears bars, but I don't know if I will have the same reaction. Before I used Zone Perfect bars, I never had any pain or discomfort, but as you mentioned I was hungry in 1-2 hours after eating whole bar. |

Hi janetta, It's unfortunate you didn't feel well. For specific product questions and concerns, you can the call the phone number at the top of this page to talk to a Zone phone representative. Good luck! |
