I know you have seen these type messages before, sorry to be repetative; but I just learned about Zone eating a week or so ago and am wanting to get started. But I know nothing about protein or good carbs or bad, or blocks. Where do you go to get this info? Also, I work and leave the house at 6:15; have a break room at work for lunch, and then I can prepare dinner. So how do you guys eat egg white, etc. when I barely have time to make it to work, much less prepare a breakfast? I ususally warm up oatmeal or whole grain waffles after I get to work. Plus, the supplements, do you take them every day, can you buy them at a health food store, or do I need to get them from this web-site? Just a few tips on where to get started would be great. Thanks.

By the way, I am only needing to lose about 15 lbs to be at a good weight, but I also want a lifestyle change to be a healthier person.

Thanks all,

Gerald

I whip up a strawberry smoothie every morning, otherwise I don't have time to cook, either. My lunch is usually something that I prepared ahead of time, and only requires heating up in the microwave at work. Sometimes it is leftovers from the previous night's dinner.

Don't forget to bring a good snack with you, too. I like to pack a dish of frozen blueberries, cottage cheese, and almonds. By the time I am ready for the snack, the blueberries have thawed out some and are perfect for eating.

Check out the food guide on this website, it should be a good working tool for you to use, in determining best choices to eat in the Zone.

I went to the Borders bookstore in my area and browsed through a few Zone books and purchased the One Week in The Zone because I felt it had all the information I needed to get started.

Then....I found this website and found most of that information here as well (look at the right hand side where it says Quick Start Guide and 7-day meal planner)

I also went to the library and checked out the Top 100 Zone Foods (or whatever that title is)

Hope that helps.

Hi,
A couple things. I have absolutely limited time such as yourself. So what do I do...commit my Sunday afternoons to myself. I've only been doing the zone for two weeks. I prepare a weeks worth of food every Sunday. It's a bit trying after a few hours in the kitchen but then it's said and done for a whole week! Also..I eat whenever and whereever I am. Meetings..walking to my next appointment, driving...etc.

As for my education. I read this entire site and got pretty much everything off of here. I've bought a recipie book but either way you can find alot on here.
I hope that helps,
B

I would HIGHLY recommend getting the book "Mastering the Zone". This will explain the diet and also answer most questions you have. It's just always good to have the book on hand that way you don't always have to log in to figure things out with blocks etc. There is so much more info in that book than you will find on this site.
I also cook most food on Sundays. I make a big pan of chicken and measure it out, bag it up, and freeze it. This way it's always ready. It's thawed by lunch and ready to eat! Snacks for me are usually cottage cheese and fruit, or string cheese and fruit. Or a Zone bar. Whatever I have time for that day.
You can always have a Zone shake for breakfast if you don't have a whole lot of time. They are quick and pretty tasty (the chocolate ones are my favorite).

Hope this helps!
Sarah
