Hey guys, just signed up because i cant find a solid answer to my questions.

Question 1. I have been told that a fat block is 1.5g and i have heard and believe that it is 3g. Which is correct? Like say im using a protein source thats fat free like egg whites/fat free milk or protein powder, then the fat block would be 3g correct?

Question 2. If im correct in assuming that the fat block is 3g then all the fat blocks on the list of foods would be multiplied by 2 since they are all in 1.5g blocks correct?

Question 3. How do i measure 1 cup of a leafy veggie? Take spinach, it says 20 cups is 1 block!?! How do i measure this.

Question 4. What is the ratio of substituting fat for carbs. I heard its a 1c = 3f so if thats true then 1 block of carbs would be 9g of fat. correct?

Thanks alot for your time!

Hi!

1. 3 grams of fat are needed for each fully balanced Zone block.

2. No, don't multiply them by two. Then block system is designed such the half the fat (1.5g) is in the low fat proten block, and the other half (1.5G) in the added monounsaturated fat block, for a total of 3g fat.

If you choose a fat free protein like egg whites, then double the amount of monounsaturated fat blocks you add, becdause the protein block is missing the 1.5 g fat it is presumed to contain.

3. It's not necessary to count a cup of two of raw spinach, since it is a negligible amount of carb.

4. You don't substitute fat for carb. You may be thinking of the temporary drop a carb adjustment to jump start a weigth loss plateau. Some people add a few extra fat blocks when they do this adjustment, others don't.
