I've got the 'Week In the Zone' book. Page 184 says "treat 12 oz of beer as if it were 10 grams of carbohydrate" but page 229 (zone food choices) says that 6 oz of light beer or 4 oz of regular beer contains 10 grams of carbs.

Which is it?

Thanks

Beer is a tough one for me. I love my imports and micro brews more than anything. From the Euro styles to Mexican & Canadian but I like them cold. Most of the good beer is much higher in carbs and for the last 6 months I have been trying to avoid them. I've been sticking with the light alternatives. Amstel, Heinekin & Corona all are available in light styles. The watered down Miller Lite/ Coors or Bud have only a few carbs.

So all that being said I try to never use beer as part of a snack. When I am drinking beer I make sure to add in some protein. Also a method I have used this summer was 1 beer, 1 water.

I consider drinking cheating.

Am I a cheater yes, but like all the books tell you make sure when you do cheat your next meal is a balanced meal and you will be right back in the Zone.
